Within the bustling music industry, where dreams are intertwined with melodies, one name stands out as a beacon of inspiration—Cooper Phillip. Her unconventional upbringing in Russia instilled a relentless drive in Phillip, but her passion for Mariah Carey inspired her to chase stardom in America.

The powerhouse vocalist was raised by parents who were deeply entrenched in classical music. From her earliest days, she found herself immersed in the enchanting world of opera houses and symphonies. Phillip was only two years old when she first stepped onto a stage. However, it wasn't until she encountered the soul-stirring voice of Mariah Carey at the age of 11 that her musical journey took a transformative turn.

"I heard Mariah Carey when I was 11, and that was the most influential moment of my singing career because I fell in love with her voice," Phillip told Fandom Daily. "I thought what she was doing vocally was impossible, but then I thought, 'She's a human, and I'm a human. If she can do it, I can too.'"

Despite not speaking English at the time, Phillip was determined to perfect her artistry and follow in Carey's footsteps. She would spend countless hours honing her craft and mastering the intricacies of English to understand the meaning behind Carey's lyrics.

"My motivation for understanding the language came from Mariah because I wanted to understand what she was talking about in her songs," explained the songstress. With unwavering determination, she turned to a printed dictionary. "We did not have any internet in Russia—only certain people could have access. I flipped the CD, and I was reading her titles and looking them up in an old-school dictionary, trying to translate the meanings. That's how I started learning English."

It wasn't long before she fled her country to make a life in New York City. Upon arrival, she immersed herself in the competitive music industry, continuously securing gigs to prove she was "talented enough" to receive an Extraordinary Visa. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services issue this specific type of credential to individuals who "possess extraordinary ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics."

Soon after receiving her green card, she caught the attention of a notable Los Angeles producer, inked a deal, and started working alongside the top talent in the industry.

"It was like a Cinderella story. It was a great experience," Phillip recalled. "That's how I ended up in California. I started developing relationships here. I fell in love with the palm trees and the weather. I moved, and I was starting my life from scratch again."

Bolstered by her newfound legal status, Cooper's career soared to new heights as she collaborated with industry luminaries and captured the hearts of fans worldwide. Amidst the glitz and glamor of the entertainment industry, Cooper remained steadfast in her commitment to empowering others through her music.Although the breakout star became independent in 2017, she kept up the momentum, and her devoted fanbase rallied behind her. Her robust vocals racked up 304K followers on Instagram alone and have garnered over 15 million streams to date.

Her latest single, "She's A Player" has deeply resonated with fans as it explores themes of self-exploration and the quest for affection. Phillip's captivating vocals, infused with hints of nostalgia from R&B's golden era, prove she's a genre-bending artist. In this track, listeners are urged to embrace their inner strength and bask in the glory of their individuality.

"I feel like we need that reminder consistently because a lot of people come from families where there's a lot of trauma, lack of love, or support," she said. "I had so many problems with my self-esteem."

"She's A Player" not only delivers a message of resilience, but it signifies a full-circle moment. When asked about the origin of the guitar-soaked track, she paused and confessed that it was initially written for Mariah Carey. Approximately ten years ago, the singer-songwriter made her pipedream a reality and worked alongside Carey's frequent collaborators.

"The story is actually really interesting," she exclusively told Fandom Daily. "I was in a camp writing for Mariah Carey. "I got invited to collaborate with a group of musicians who were writing for her at the time. This song came up, and I was like, 'I'm the biggest Mariah fan. I grew up listening to her music. So, I know her style.' I wrote the melody, but the lyrics were different."

Phillip continued, " We did not finish the song at the time, and it obviously did not get picked up. While working on my project, I asked, 'Wait…what about that song? It's really cool.' So, I rewrote the verses, changed the production a little bit, and made it more R&B. I really want people to listen to my music and feel like they can embrace that self-love."

Phillips' full-circle moment exemplifies her inventive approach and creative mindset—reminiscent of Carey's trailblazing career. Her storytelling soul and eye-opening delivery have fostered a deep connection with her fanbase, as "She's A Player" is a fresh twist on a love song.

Wish passion, persistence, and a dash of Mariah Carey magic – Phillip is preparing for one of her most significant years yet. The must-watch artist with superstardom potential is slated to release a handful of singles in 2024 from her vault, which she created during the pandemic. She plans to bring her vocal coaching business to the next level with workshops in Asia and Europe.

When Phillip is not recording her music, she's sharing her expertise with music hopefuls. She has over 45,000 students, has held masterclasses in 40 countries, and has penned seven books.

"I don't have a label, and I don't have any investors. I'm completely self-funded, and I just love sharing knowledge with other people. This gave me the ability to put money into my own singing career," she said. "I have so much music that I've been recording and writing. I haven't gotten a chance to release everything I worked on, but I hope to release more this year."

The risk-taker warned fans to be prepared for more inspirational hits touching on self-love and positivity. Phillip did not reveal the release date for her next track, but encouraged listeners to keep their eyes peeled to her social media at @cooperphillip.
