In the heart of Adair, Oklahoma, Cody Hibbard's journey from a farmer with a passion for country music to a rising star in the genre has been nothing short of extraordinary. His debut album, Long Ride In A Short Bed, marks a significant milestone in his career, showcasing his unique sound and deeply personal storytelling. Hibbard's musical journey began in the simplicity of his rural upbringing. Adopted at just 13 months old and raised in rural America, Hibbard's early life was steeped in the traditions of country music.

"Growing up, everyone around me listened to country music," Hibbard recalls. "Brooks and Dunn and Garth Brooks were the first CDs I ever owned. It was a natural part of life."

Hibbard's influences are deeply rooted in his childhood, where the sounds of classic country legends shaped his musical taste. Yet, as he matured, his inspirations evolved from mere artists to the songwriters behind the music.

His sound is now a fusion of traditional roots with rock and Southern influences – reflecting his diverse musical tastes and experiences. "I don't confine myself to one sound," Hibbard told Fandom Daily. "I create music that feels right for each song. Whether it's a heavier rock feel or a more traditional country vibe, it all comes together to tell my story."

The album's first single, "Kill The Messenger," opens with a bold, driving beat that sets the tone for Hibbard's genre-blending approach. "This track symbolizes my struggle with faith and the journey back to it," he says. "It's raw and powerful, and it's meant to challenge the listener."

In crafting Long Ride In A Short Bed, Hibbard has leaned heavily on the expertise of songwriters to bring his personal experiences to life. "Songwriters are the unsung heroes of the music industry. They capture the essence of a story in a way that resonates deeply with listeners. I wanted to honor that by working with some incredible songwriters."

Hibbard collaborated with Tony Lane, a major influence and personal hero, and notable names like Rose Falcon and Adam Craig. These songwriters helped Hibbard shape an album that is as much a reflection of his journey as it is a testament to their craft. The album is a raw and honest portrayal of Hibbard's life, from his struggles to his triumphs.

"The album is a journey from where I was, where I am, and where I'm going," Hibbard says. "It's meant to be listened to from front to back to understand the full story." The closing track, "Backroad To Heaven," represents a hopeful return to redemption and healing.

"I wanted 'Backroad To Heaven' to capture the essence of finding peace after going through tough times," he stressed.

Other tracks on the album explore Hibbard's battle with addiction and his relationship with his daughter, illustrating his growth and resilience. "When I found out I was having a girl, I quit pain pills cold turkey," Hibbard explained.  "That moment was pivotal for me."

The track "Had It Been A Boy (Brinley's Song)" is destined to bring fans to tears. The razor-sharp lyrics capture the true essence of his connection with his child. Listeners will quickly realize that Hibbard is a risk-taker with the potential to change the genre.

"Set In My Ruts" powerfully demonstrates his willingness to challenge conventional country norms. "It was penned out of frustration with the restrictions and criticisms in the industry," he explains. "I wanted to push the boundaries and stay true to myself, regardless of what others might say."

His willingness to push boundaries and vulnerability have not gone unnoticed by his devoted community. Not only has the newcomer created a passionate fanbase of over 48.9K followers on Instagram alone, but he has packed out notable venues nationwide. His authenticity and openness have resonated with listeners, creating a loyal following.

"I think people connect with my music because it's real," shared Hibbard. "I'm not afraid to be vulnerable and share my story. Fans appreciate that honesty."

Hibbard's approach to content creation and fan engagement reflects his genuine personality. "I might not be the biggest fan of content creation, but I do it because it's part of the job," he admits. "I'm real with my fans, which matters to me."

Hibbard's sound is all about breaking the mold, and his stories hit home on a personal level. As he keeps evolving and inspiring, you can bet his music will make a significant and lasting impression on the music indsutry and its fans.
