Jennifer Lopez is stepping into a new chapter of her life with a renewed focus on self-discovery and personal growth following her recent split from Ben Affleck. 

During a candid conversation with Interview magazine, Lopez opened up about how this past summer has transformed her perspective – encouraging her to seek happiness within herself rather than in relationships.

Without directly mentioning Affleck, Lopez made it clear that she is not looking for love at this moment. 

“You have to be complete, if you want something that’s complete,” the hitmaker explained. “You have to be good on your own. I thought I learned that, but I didn’t. And then, this summer, I had to be like, ‘I need to go off and be on my own. I want to prove to myself that I can do that.’”

Fans have expressed their support for Lopez’s decision to prioritize her mental health and personal happiness over seeking validation through romantic relationships. “Here’s the thing,” she said before declaring her relationship status. “I’m not looking for anybody, because everything that I’ve done over the past 25, 30 years, being in these different challenging situations, what can I f–king do when it’s just me flying on my own. What if I’m just free?”

While acknowledging the pain of her recent split – having been engaged to Affleck in the early 2000s before their reunion in 2021 – Lopez affirmed that she has no regrets about their love story. “Not one second,” she emphasized. “That doesn’t mean it didn’t almost take me out for good. It almost did. But now, on the other side of it, I think to myself, ‘F--k that is exactly what I needed.’”

The singer-songwriter also addressed the false narratives surrounding her marriage, personal life, and business decisions. I know I’m a good person. I know I’m a good mom. I know who my friends are. I know my friends know who I am, my mom, my dad, all that stuff.” 

Reflecting on her choice to cancel her tour earlier this year, Lopez clarified that it was not due to ticket sales, as some speculated, but rather a conscious decision to focus on her family and personal development. The singer and actress revealed that she felt devastated about letting anyone down, but recognized the need to prioritize time with her children and herself.

“I was so devastated to let anybody down, but I just needed to be with my kids and myself and really dig down deep into things that were happening in my life,” she uttered. “And I’m glad I did because it was a really difficult time for me. Probably the hardest time of my life, but it was also the best time because I got to do that work on myself,” Lopez added. 

She promised her devoted fandom that she would get back on the road despite her current rollercoaster life. 

“I’ll be out there entertaining you,” she pointed out. “And shaking my ass sooner than you know.”
