The first weekend of Coachella 2024 proved why this festival remains at the pinnacle of global music events. It offered a spectacular array of performances, legendary reunions, iconic fashion moments, and unexpected celebrity collaborations that captivated the live audience and fans at home.

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Dive Into The Festival Spirit

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce were seen fully embracing the festival vibes, enjoying a lineup of performances across the weekend. The couple's energetic presence was notable during sets by Jack Antonoff's Bleachers and Ice Spice, where they enthusiastically sang and danced along. During Dom Dolla’s set, Kelce lifted Swift on his shoulders – both laughing and dancing, embodying the joyous spirit of Coachella. Their interactions with the music and fellow colleagues and friends highlighted their genuine enjoyment and added a personal touch to the festival's atmosphere.

Swift and Kelce mingled with other celebs like Sabrina Carpenter and Barry Keoghan, embracing the festival vibe in casual attire and Stella McCartney accessories. Swift even sported Kelce's cap, supporting his podcast with brother Jason Kelce, adding a fun twist to her laid-back fit.

No Doubt's Triumphant Return To Coachella

The festival was electric with excitement for the return of No Doubt, marking their first appearance since 2015. Gwen Stefani, alongside bandmates Tony Kanal, Adrian Young, and Tom Dumont, delivered a high-energy performance, reigniting their hits like "Don't Speak," "It's My Life," and "Just a Girl,” re-creating the group’s iconic Coachella moment from the ‘90s.

The peak of their set came when Olivia Rodrigo joined them for "Bathwater." Wearing an "I ♥ ND" tank top, Rodrigo infused the performance with fresh enthusiasm, perfectly complementing the band's established prowess and creating a memorable moment that bridged the gap between generations of music fans. This was truly a full circle moment for Rodrigo; fans recognized, as she had said in an interview, that “Bathwater” was one of her favorite songs of all time.

“I remember hearing [‘Bathwater’] for the first time when I had just started writing songs,” Olivia wrote on Instagram. “It totally turned my world on its head and inspires me to this day. was the coolest honor to sing it with @nodoubt and @gwenstefani this weekend at @coachella!!!! they’re out of this world!!!! 🌏🌹❤️.”

Pop Icons Reneé Rapp and Kesha Team Up For The Ultimate Party

During her first appearance at Coachella, Mean Girls star Reneé Rapp surprised fans by bringing out pop icon Kesha for a special performance. The crowd was thrilled as Kesha took the stage, sporting a shirt boldly stating "I'm Mothering," to perform her smash hit "Tik Tok." However, the audience received an unexpected twist when Kesha altered a well-known lyric from the song. Instead of the original line, "Wake up in the morning feelin' like P. Diddy," Kesha sang, "Wake up in the morning like f*** P. Diddy." This lyric change, a significant departure from the 2009 hit's studio version, was Kesha's response to the recent sexual assault allegations facing the rapper. The bold modification resonated with the crowd, marking a memorable moment in her set and adding a layer of commentary to the performance.

Rapp also performed fan-favorites “Snow Angel” and “Not My Fault” effortlessly, rocking her first ever Coachella like we all knew she would. Her performance was also a massive win for the LGBTQ+ community, as Rapp was introduced to the stage by the cast of The L Word, a long-time community favorite. Fans were shook, going to X to say,

Lana Del Rey And Billie Eilish Join Forces

Another mesmerizing collaboration was between Lana Del Rey and Billie Eilish, who performed "Ocean Eyes" and "Video Games" together. The duo's blending of styles created a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere that left the audience spellbound, showcasing their strong vocal and emotional synergy. The two were fangirling over each other, Del Rey lifting Eilish up, “Yep, that’s the voice of your generation, the voice of our generation,” she said. “I”m so fucking grateful she’s standing next to me right now singing my favorite song of hers.” Eilish replied by praising Del Rey’s legacy, “This is the reason for half of you bitches existence, including mine.”

Paris Hilton's Unexpected Appearance With Vampire Weekend

In one of the weekend's most surprising moments, Paris Hilton, decked out in a full desert cowgirl ensemble, joined Vampire Weekend on stage for a game of…cornhole? Known for her iconic status in the entertainment world, long-time friend Hilton added a unique flair to the indie band's set, blending her charismatic personality with their “western-inspired” set. The collaboration was not only a fun, light-hearted (random, we admit) addition to the festival but also a testament to Coachella’s enduring appeal as a place where different worlds and musical styles can come together in unexpected yet harmonious ways.

As we look ahead to the remaining days of the festival, it's clear that Coachella remains a beacon for those who live and breathe music. It's more than just a festival; it's a place where every chord, every melody, and every lyric comes alive. Here's to more unforgettable moments, more connections, and more celebrations of the spirit that make Coachella a phenomenon year after year.
