After Taylor Frankie Paul’s season got unexpectedly canceled, rumors are swirling that Maura Higgins could be stepping in as the new Bachelorette. Make no mistake, this won't be an ordinary season, it would be produced live. Yes, live. 

The tea comes courtesy of a DeuxMoi tipster, who claimed, "ABC exec friend said that they are looking into getting Maura Higgins to be the new Bachelorette and do a live shooting of it. They shut down Layla and Miranda as a dual season and are trying to steer away from SLOMW girlies."

Of course, Maura hasn’t confirmed anything yet, but she did slide into the comments of the post with a cheeky side-eyes emoji, which basically counts as a "maybe." Bachelor Nation, Love Island, and Traitors fans are losing it, theorizing everything from over-the-top rose ceremonies to real-time audience voting. 

But don't get too excited, because there's also rumors that the entire Bachelorette franchise might be… over. A source told The Sun, "To be frank, as of right now, there's a huge likelihood the franchise is dead. That's the whispers amongst the execs at the tip top that they don't want it to come back ever."

The source continued, "The new management doesn't want this stain on their legacy and would rather just scrap this altogether. They don't see a path forward to making the show work again and the interest and ratings were already at an all-time low."

So why would ABC even think about reviving it? Well, tens of millions are reportedly on the line, so maybe a Maura-led live season is just the kind of gamble they’re willing to take.

"The network is obsessively scrambling to find programming to fill in the Sunday night timeslots," the insider told The Sun. "There's already been dozens of crisis talks and last-minute meetings amongst different show crews to see how they can remotely salvage this situation."

And the timing of this news is… complicated.

Taylor Frankie Paul, who was originally slated to lead the season, is currently under investigation by Utah police following allegations of a third domestic violence incident reported by ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen. Officers are reviewing multiple videos tied to the 2024 incident, and Taylor has been asked to provide a statement or appear in person.
