Lily Rose: "There are songs of nostalgia and party, and I hope people just enjoy them."
After years of dedication and perseverance in the music industry, Lily Rose is ready to make a pivotal mark with the release of her six-track EP, Runnin' Outta Time. This collection isn't just another release (May 10) from Rose – it's a culmination of her life, lessons learned, who she is at her very core, and aspirations.
The breakout star, who had a hand in co-writing every song on the emotion-soaked collection, invites listeners to delve into her world. When Rose released "Parking Lot" and "True North" as the first taste, her authenticity and reflective lyricism instantly struck a chord with fans.
The two tracks showcase her carefree demeanor and southern upbringing in Georgia. Rose's strong storytelling and infectious fusion of country-hip-hop curated a well-rounded project that can seamlessly be intertwined into a listener's daily rotation, no matter the occasion.
In a recent conversation with Fandom Daily, Rose shared her excitement about the EP, expressing her belief that this collection of songs represents the best work she and her team have produced to date.
"It's just been quite a while since we've released music, and I think that this music is the best that we've written out of everything so far," Rose pointed out. "So, I'm just excited for everybody to hear it, and I hope they don't hate it."
Runnin' Outta Time marks a significant departure from her previous work, where she frequently utilized Music Row's best resources and would tackle cuts from esteemed songsmiths. Now, with a tight-knit support system rallying behind her, she is ready to share her story.
"I've always been an artist who cuts outside songs. I think we have the best songwriters in the world here in Nashville. So, I've been really lucky that I've been pitched amazing songs," she shared, full of gratitude. "But, I feel like I finally nailed down my circle and who I really click with to write songs. This new producer, Paul DiGiovanni, has been an anchor in the writing room for me. These six songs are just every syllable, every second, the most Lily Rose thing ever."
Each track on Runnin' Outta Time includes a compelling hook that leaves listeners hungry for more. Rose said her co-writers, like Hillary Lindsey, David Garcia, Lydia Vaughan, Trannie Anderson, and more, encouraged her to dive deeply into personal territory.
"It was kinda the first time I really stepped off the ledge and started writing extremely personal things," she recalled. "Talking about going back home to the Chattahoochee, sitting on my mom's porch with the dogs, and all of those things that are so personal to me," uttered the vocalist. "This is what the new chapter feels like. It was the rip of the bandaid. I can talk about really personal things, whether they're nouns and experiences or emotions. That's a huge testament to my songwriters for making me feel secure."
It's not just Rose's personal journey that shines through in her music; it's also her ability to connect with her audience on a profound level. "I hope that if you're going through any of those emotions that I said I was going through or you've been there before, you connect with it," she shares. "But there are songs of nostalgia and party, and I hope people just enjoy them."
One track that holds particular significance for Rose is "Two Flowers." "It's like the most autobiographical song I've ever written," she reveals. "My mom named me after Two Flowers because she knew I was born to be wild."
Through her signature twang, Rose reflects on her household name and her mother's prophetic insight into her radiant future, one that doesn't require a stage persona. Rose declares in her acoustic-driven track that her mother knew she would have a prosperous life in the spotlight.
With each new addition to her already remarkable body of work, Rose forges ahead, embodying the life her mother once envisioned. The "Villain" artist is gearing up for a nationwide tour with country heavyweights Cole Swindell and Luke Bryan. In the lead-up, she takes a moment to ponder the steadfast devotion of her fandom and their unwavering support.
"I have the best fans in the entire world," she declares. "They truly are so committed and dedicated, and I know everybody says that, but I truly think I do."
Looking ahead, Rose is eager to continue pushing boundaries and exploring new horizons in her music—inspired by the advice of country trailblazer and mentor Shania Twain. Before penning Runnin' Outta Time, Twain told Rose to "write music that feels true to you" and "genres don't matter."
Rose told Fandom Daily that she's not slowing down anytime soon and has "a lot of songs in the tank" to be still recorded. She hopes to add to the EP in the fall. Until then, fans can catch Rose out on the road. For upcoming appearances and tickets, visit her official website.
