Lindsay Hubbard shares a glimpse of motherhood as Bravo introduces new faces and sparks fresh drama.
Bravoholics, we’re thirsty, and Bravo has officially quenched our thirst.
The new Summer House spinoff, In The City, premiered last night (May 19) and captured fans' attention within the first five seconds. One thing about Bravo is that they always have their finger on the pulse, giving fans exactly what they want, answering burning questions, and pouring out just enough tea to leave us wanting more.
In The City is not like any other reality show. It feels like the storyline is unfolding in real time, and we’re experiencing life with the cast. And in this case…we are. When Bravolebs Amanda Batula and Kyle Cooke called it quits, and West Wilson betrayed ex-girlfriend Ciara Miller, producers picked up the cameras.
Thankfully, Bravo fans have a front-row seat to this drama. The series starts off with the jaw-dropping headlines about the divorce, Summer House affair, and interview soundbites from the cast in disbelief.
The introduction leaves us thinking, "Where do Amanda and Kyle stand? They are most definitely not on good terms." However, the two had fans fooled all along. They’re on speaking terms and communicating like adults, despite Amanda’s romance with West, which caught Kyle off guard.
Season 10 of Summer House ended with Kyle and Amanda on rocky terms, so the heart-to-heart months later was long overdue. The Loverboy founder addressed his concerns, saying he felt like Amanda was "fully out the door" all summer and fall. With tears in her eyes, Amanda admitted that she was "done to an extent" and "tired." She claims that she had nothing left in her to "fight" for the marriage and stressed that she was never unfaithful to Kyle, even emotionally, with West.
When Kyle tried to say he never cheated on Amanda during the marriage, she fired back, "There’s a video." At that moment, Kyle knew he was caught red-handed. But in true Kyle Cooke fashion, he flipped the script, calling Amanda "reckless" for betraying Ciara and getting with a housemate. A perspective that many of us fans agree on.
And the fandom crumbled at home when, through tears, Kyle said, "somebody else gets the version that I fell in love with." Proving this scandal will take time for everyone to move past.
Following the conversation, the series fast-forwards back seven months, shortly after the cast left The Hamptons. While the two attend couples therapy, Lindsay Hubbard is home playing house with her daughter Gemma, whom she shares with ex-boyfriend, Turner Kufe. Lindsay introduces her two best friends, Yvonne Najor and Georgina Ferzil, hinting at the roles they’ll play in the series.
Danielle Olivera has returned to the madness with her new boyfriend, Eoin Heavey. They have been dating for six months, and their romance is moving at lightning speed. Danielle is already talking about an engagement, her biological clock, and having a baby sooner rather than later. However, she did also mention that she’s on awkward terms with Lindsay. While she might have her own story, Lindsay made it clear that it’s because she hooked up with her ex-fiancé Carl just "one week" after they called it quits.
Former Summer House cast member Andrea arrived with his wife Lexi. The couple filled new viewers in on their romance and recent wedding in Italy, and Andrea made a pointed remark that Kyle attended without Amanda…very telling.
At the bar, Lindsay clashed with two new Bravo cast members. Earlier, viewers met Kenny Martin and Whitney Fransway, who had just moved in together after Whitney relocated from the Midwest to be with him. Lindsay interrogated Kenny about the move, questioning why Whitney crossed the country without the "commitment" of an engagement.
"I’m grilling Kenny," she said, warning him not to "mess around" in his relationship. Kenny shot back, "I’m getting ‘I hate men vibes,’" to which Lindsay replied she’s simply "allergic to annoying men."
Danielle approached Lindsay to say hello and suggested they catch up over lunch. Lindsay answered, "I’ll have a think about it." The short-lived exchange came up later when Lindsay, Amanda, Yvonne, and Georgia chatted over cocktails, including Amanda’s revelation that Danielle’s new partner is still married, a detail that left Lindsay stunned.
In The City airs Tuesdays at 9/8c on Bravo and streams on Peacock the next day.
