Lauren Watkins, the latest gem from Big Loud Records and Songs & Daughters, has just dropped her debut collection, The Heartbroken Record. This 17-track masterpiece is her first full-length release, and it takes us fans on an emotional journey through heartbreak and healing.

Each track serves as a poignant chapter in Watkins' life, which is destined to captivate listeners. They vividly reflect the emotional highs and lows she navigated, but also the profound growth she has undergone.

"It still feels not real. Like I still can't believe that it's finally out," Watkins previously told Fandom Daily, expressing the overwhelming sense of achievement after years of hard work. "I'm just loving seeing what people are saying about it and getting to be on the road to experience the response in real-time."

The budding singer-songwriter explained that the theme of heartbreak, a consistent thread in her songwriting, naturally shaped the album's cohesive narrative. Some may find that this project gives listeners a more intimate glimpse into Watkins' personal journey and the evolution of her artistry.

"I had so many songs that I needed to get off my chest," she pointed out. "When we wrote the song 'Heartbroken Record,' it was like a light bulb moment. What if this was the whole album? And so, I kept that concept and wrote for it," she added.

The release is significant for Watkins, coinciding with her recent marriage – a bittersweet irony she fully embraced. The songstress tied the knot in late May and married fast-rising country artist and producer Will Bundy

Their nuptials were far from extravagant. Instead, they opted for an intimate wedding with their closest family on their own piece of dirt. From the looks of their eye-catching wedding photos, the couple seems like they are on cloud nine. Before the two could turn the page as newlyweds, she stressed that The Heartbroken Record had to be released. This project marks the end of one chapter and the beginning of another as she transitions into married life.

"Putting out a record about heartbreak and getting married at the same time, life is ironic sometimes," shared the must-watch artist. "But for me, it felt like a release I needed to get off my chest before I could fully embrace the next chapter of my life."

She describes the process as a deeply personal one, acknowledging the cliché that "it takes your whole life to write your first album" and admitting, "Now that I've done it, I'm like, 'oh yeah, that's true'."

Watkins didn't hesitate to explain that the writing and recording process was a profound learning experience. "I learned so much about myself," she uttered. "Songwriting allows you to process things and learn about others. It's like sharing your experiences and emotions and, in turn, finding common ground with others."

This introspective approach is evident in the album's lyrics, where Watkins bravely voices feelings that many might keep private. "I want everyone else to feel seen," she explains. "I want to be like that for people, like music has always been for me."

Watkins has a special attachment to the track "Sad Songs And You." It blends upbeat melodies with deeper, emotional undertones – perfectly showcasing her skill in expressing complex feelings with real authenticity.

Watkins and talented songsmith Lauren Hungate touch upon an invisible mask that many pull out to wear in everyday life. This mask tends to hide true feelings or someone's authenticity. Within the track, Watkins explains that she pretends to be "tough as nails most of the time" but is internally battling a rollercoaster of emotions.

"It's funny because it sounds like a silly little song, but it's really about me trying to act tough while dealing with my own vulnerabilities," she says. "It's a reflection of how I sometimes hide my true feelings."

Her introspective approach not only makes her music deeply personal but also relatable to many. Watkins' ability to articulate raw, emotional truths in her lyrics helps listeners feel seen and understood, a rare and valuable quality in today's music landscape.

"Your voice is like a breath of fresh air," wrote a fan on social media. "I've been needing this song lately," added another.

Not only will her rich storytelling strike a chord, but her grit and sound will remind you of country legend LeAnn Womack, Kacey Musgraves, or even Miranda Lambert. Her voice carries an effortless rasp that instantly transports listeners back to the golden days of '90s country radio. A significant highlight of the album is "Set My Heart On Fire," featuring genre-bending artist  Sheryl Crow. The collaboration is both surreal and significant for Watkins, who has long admired Crow.

"It's so unreal," she says. "Seeing her name next to mine feels like a full-circle moment. The experience of working with her was incredible, and she was just so normal and down-to-earth. It inspired me to stay humble no matter where this journey takes me."

This ear-grabbing hit not only unites two generations of powerhouse female voices, but also bridges the gap between music lovers of iconic legends and the new wave of country music fans. This connection through music makes the audience feel part of a larger musical community – enhancing their sense of belonging and appreciation for the album.

Her devoted fanbase is a testament to her impact. In fact, Watkins has been amazed to see fans singing along to lyrics and engaging with her music in real time.

"It makes me feel pretty special," said Watkins with a laugh, clearly moved by the connection she has with her audience. As she continues to tour and share her music with fans, she finds immense joy in seeing her songs come to life on stage.

"Performing the new music and seeing people know the lyrics is the most rewarding part," she pointed out. "It brings everything full circle, from writing alone to sharing these songs with a live audience."

Her music is single-handedly shifting the country scene – offering a blend of heartfelt authenticity and innovative sound that stands out. The budding songstress is currently overseas opening up for country phenomenon Morgan Wallen on his record-breaking One Night At A Time Tour. Watkins will return for gigs with Corey Kent and the award-winning duo Maddie & Tae in late September. Tickets are available for purchase, here
