Fandom Daily: HEXED is described as your most confident, raw, and real project to date. What inspired this level of openness and vulnerability in your music?

Leah Mason: "I truly believe if I hadn’t listened to my gut and pursued creating this album, I would have always regretted it. I wanted to make something that just felt authentically me, no matter how it was received. I’m really proud of myself for taking that leap of faith, and I’m even prouder of how the album turned out. HEXED is definitely my favorite project I’ve created to date."

Fandom Daily: The album captures the intensity of young adulthood. Can you share any personal experiences that heavily influenced the themes of this album?

Leah Mason: "A lot of the album revolves around my relationships in my early twenties. I was realizing who my true friends are and what’s important to me. I felt like I was really starting to figure out my own identity for the first time. There’s so much change that comes with figuring all of that out, and with change comes a lot of heavy emotions. I’m a person that feels every emotion so deeply, so writing this album kind of felt like spilling the contents of my diary."

Fandom Daily: HEXED features a mix of angst-driven anthems and heartfelt reflections on love and loss. How did you strike a balance between these different emotional tones across the album?

Leah Mason: "I didn’t really have a specific theme in mind when I went into this album. I just knew I wanted to capture how I felt in the moment, and it all came together quite naturally. The themes only became apparent to me once we were done writing and recording the album and I was able to listen back to it."

Fandom Daily: You originally started in Nashville’s country music scene but have now embraced a more pop-centric sound. What led you to this evolution in your musical style, and how does HEXED reflect that journey?

Leah Mason: "In all honesty, I just hadn’t ever considered it an option to make more pop-focused music. I felt like I was so deeply entrenched in the Nashville country music scene that exploring other genres and sounds felt so scary to me. That was until I met my producer, Simon Jonasson. We connected at a Warner Chappell writing camp in Nashville and working with him flipped my world upside down. I wasn’t sure what it all meant at the time, but I knew I had unlocked something special."

Fandom Daily: As you continue to evolve as an artist, where do you see your sound heading in the future? Any hints about what might come after HEXED?

Leah Mason: "My plan is to just keep songwriting and making more music! It feels like my purpose in this world and I can’t imagine I’ll ever stop. I’m also hoping to play some live shows in the near future, so stay tuned!"
