Selena Gomez presses pause on her on-screen duties to spend time with fans – check it out!
Selena Gomez just scored major points with fans in Telluride!
The 32-year-old superstar took a break from the Telluride Film Festival over the weekend (Aug. 31) to surprise the Telluride Middle High School Volleyball team. The Only Murders in the Building actress was in town for the screening of her upcoming film, Emilia Pérez. Directed by Jacques Audiard, the film features Gomez in a compelling role opposite Zoe Saldaña.
Superfans in the small town of Colorado were on high alert all weekend, knowing that Gomez was out and about. Therefore, the TMHS volleyball team posted a heartfelt plea on Instagram, asking Gomez to sing the national anthem at one of their games.
The team wrote their plea on a bright orange oak tag and stapled it to a bulletin board in the heart of their town. Although the chances of Gomez stumbling upon the sign were slim, the team crossed their fingers and hoped for the best.
The sign read, "Selena Gomez, please sing the National Anthem @ one of our home games: Fri 6:00 PM, Sat 1:00 ~ THS Volleyball Team." The notice also included the coach's personal email address.
It was only a short time until Gomez noticed the fan-made sign and jumped into action. Without hesitation, she crashed their tournament. While walking into the school's gymnasium, she said, "I saw the sign, so I had to come."
The players and spectators erupted in cheers. The fans instantly flocked to the hitmaker to get a photograph and autograph. Gomez shared snippets of the sweet interaction on Instagram, displaying her deep connection with her devoted fandom.
Gomez shared her excitement on Instagram, captioning her post, "They asked!! Couldn't help it, it's my first time in Telluride!" The school quickly returned the love, posting a thank-you message on their official account: "Thanks, @selenagomez, for visiting TMHS and giving ❤️ to our volleyball teams!"
The Instagram carousel featured a video of the surprise, group shots, and even a picture of Gomez signing a fan's forehead.
Gomez's close relationship with her fans might be because she truly values their support and understands their struggles. After being open about her challenges, she seems to appreciate the connections she's built with her audience. Her surprise appearances, like showing up at that Telluride volleyball game, feel like her way of giving back and keeping that special bond alive. It's like she's not just saying thanks—she's showing it by staying real and involved with her fans.
