Fandom Daily had the chance to attend the second night of Sierra Ferrell's show supporting her LP release, Trail of Flowers, and it was nothing short of magical. The air was charged with anticipation as the lights dimmed at the iconic Ryman Auditorium, signaling the beginning of a night to remember.

Sierra Ferrell, the mesmerizing musical force hailing from West Virginia but now calling Music City home, stood poised on stage, her guitar in hand. The audience, feeling a deep connection with her musically, even before the first note, held its breath, eagerly awaiting what was to come.

Before we dive into Ferrell's performance, let's rewind a moment. The evening started with the impeccable, soulful tunes of East Tennessee's Vaden Landers and his band, The Doe River Playboys, Landers making his Ryman debut. Dressed in vintage attire straight out of a bygone era, Landers' yodels and blues-infused melodies transported us to a simpler time. With each strum of the guitar and each heartfelt lyric, Landers captivated the audience with his musicianship and larger-than-life personality – setting the stage for the brilliance of Sierra.

To kickstart the show, she opened by saying, “We’re gonna do a song from the record that's coming out in a few days.” Then she giggled and shook her head. “Er, tomorrow! What year is it? Where am I?”

We can all relate, Sierra.

From then on, the show was a flood of emotion, between bliss, sadness, community, and pure joy. From the haunting melancholy of "Lonesome Feeling" by The Osborne Brothers to the foot-stomping energy of "Fox Hunt," and the profound longing portrayed in "Wish You Well" and "American Dreaming."

Ferrell's setlist was a journey through the depths of human emotion, leaving the audience deeply moved. Backed by a talented band that included Geoff Saunders on bass, Matty Meyer on drums, Josh Rilke on mandolin and Oliver Bates Craven on fiddle and guitars; Billy Contreras on fiddle, and Cory Walker on banjo. Several guests joined Ferrell – Tim Bolo on the duet “Golden Ring,” Cole Ritter on Dolly Parton’s “Old Flames,” and Tim O’Brien joined in on John Anderson’s “Years."

What truly set Ferrell apart was her ability to inhabit the characters in her songs, bringing each one to life with an authenticity that was both captivating and haunting. This was most evident in her rendition of Tim O'Brien's "The Garden," a poignant tale of love and loss that left no dry eye in the house. Joined on stage by O'Brien himself, Ferrell's performance was a masterclass in storytelling, harmony singing alongside O'Brien, and how to craft a moment of raw emotion that lingers long after the last note.

Throughout the night, Ferrell was joined by a stellar lineup of guest artists, including Tim Bolo, Cole Ritter, and the legendary Tim O'Brien. Each brought their unique flair to the stage, adding to the magic of the evening and leaving the audience clamoring for more.

Throughout the evening, Ferrell treated the audience to a mix of old favorites and new gems, each a testament to her extraordinary talent as a songwriter and performer. From the bittersweet strains of her crooning ballads to the exuberant energy of fan-favorites "Dollar Bill Bar," and viral "In Dreams," Ferrell's setlist was a journey through the heart and soul of Americana, folk, country, and Western music.

As the night drew to a close and the final notes of "Goodnight Irene," stunningly performed acapella by Ferrell and the audience filled the auditorium, the crowd rose to their feet in a thunderous ovation.
