In the heart of Brooklyn's bustling music scene, TANSU flourishes among a diverse community of artists, diligently refining her artistry. Her  single, "Love Alone," featured on her latest EP, THE CITY, offers a glimpse into her electrifying life and how she transformed into a household name in the Big Apple.

One thing about TANSU is that she can't be confined to a box. Her six-song collection, which was released earlier this week (March 20), proves that she's a genre-bending artist with a storytelling soul. While navigating through the five boroughs, she not only discovered herself but formed unique bonds that has had an everlasting impact.

"The EP is called THE CITY. It is all about my relationship with New York and the relationships I've formed while being in the city. Each song kind of touches on the feelings of each of those relationships," TANSU exclusively told Fandom Daily. "I don't like to define exactly what each relationship was because I want the listeners to be able to define that emotion in their own way," she added.

The well-rounded project includes tracks – "Truth About Us," "Downtown," "Got 2 Me," "Easy Love," and "Better Off (Without You)." TANSU did not fail to mention that her keyboard-soaked anthem "Love Alone" almost did not make the cut.

"My mom is the one that really wanted 'Love Alone' on it," she said about the song selection process. "She was like, 'This is your movie moment. This is the song that showcases your vocals. So, it was really my mom who influenced the decision for us to revisit the idea, to grab the record off of the floor, and be like, 'What else can we do?"

"Love Alone," was crafted under Dave Rublin's production, a member of the platinum-selling band American Authors. Lyrically, it dives into the raw essence of loneliness. While showcasing her powerhouse pipes, she describes a relationship where one feels suffocated and controlled by their partner, who dictates how they should behave, dress, and speak. Despite feeling hurt and trapped, they continue with the relationship out of pride. As the relationship deteriorates, they realize they're better off alone than being in a loveless and controlling situation. The song explores themes of self-discovery, independence, and realizing one's worth in the face of toxic love.

TANSU believes "Love Alone" is her strongest track yet. While speaking with Fandom Daily, she did not fail to credit her good friend and longtime collaborator, Rublin. The two crossed paths while attending Berklee College of Music, where she explored the depths of jazz, neo-soul, and R&B while honing her skills as a vocalist and songwriter.

"Wrote this with Dave. This was the first song we wrote together. I definitely think 'Love Alone' is the strongest vocal performance I have recorded. It's the biggest pop song we have out right now. I think it's the best song to represent that power because it's about a woman realizing that she needs to choose to love herself first," stressed the songstress. "There's no denying you can hear the influences of Adele, Whitney Houston, and Mariah Carey. I love working with Dave because he has really good ideas, and we're very similar, but writing-wise, we're very different."

She continued to explain how Rublin encouraged her to step outside her comfort zone and experiment with her sound. This allowed TANSU to push her artistic boundaries.

"If I don't challenge myself, Dave absolutely will. He is not afraid to say, 'That's not your best work. You need to do it again.' He just sits there, and he waits for me to do it better. You are your own critic, and sometimes, your melodies can all sound the same. I wanted to make sure all the songs [on THE CITY] had their own purpose and message while also creating a full story."

THE CITY weaves together a tapestry of experiences drawn from TANSU's relationships in New York City. Each song serves as a vignette, exploring the nuances of human connection, from romantic entanglements to the bonds of friendship, within the city that never sleeps.

She wants her dedicated fanbase, particularly within the underground music scene of Brooklyn, where she has garnered a loyal following, to feel empowered. TANSU has carved out a niche for herself, offering listeners a refuge in her music—a space where emotions are raw and vulnerabilities are celebrated.

"I want people to know that I'm, here for them musically," she explained. "I want my fans to know that. If you're feeling a certain way, I hope that my music is an outlet for you. My musical range is so diverse that I think I have a song for you. I want my fans to know that I am undefinable. So there's always something new and next with me. So you should always be staging tuned."

Looking ahead, TANSU sets her sights on sharing her music with audiences far and wide. Plans for an East Coast tour, spanning from Boston to Nashville, are in the works.

As TANSU's journey continues to unfold, one thing remains clear: her music transcends boundaries, inviting listeners to embark on a transformative journey of self-discovery and empowerment. With "Love Alone" as the anthem and THE CITY as the backdrop, TANSU invites us to join her as she navigates the intricate landscape of love, resilience, and the human experience, one song at a time.
