Billie Eilish practices what she preaches. The eco-warrior is pushing for sustainability in the entertainment space. To celebrate the release of her highly anticipated album, Hit Me Hard And Soft, the hitmaker held a listening party in California and joined forces with LA Metro.

The unexpected affair took place Thursday (May 16) evening at Kia Forum, an arena in the Los Angeles area. Ahead of the event, Eilish strongly encouraged fans to utilize public transportation or carpool to help reduce pollution.

"Please plan to be in your seat by 8:30 pm sharp for the start of the event," read the announcement issued on the venue's Instagram page. "Fans are strongly encouraged to take public transportation, utilize shuttles, or carpool to help reduce greenhouse gas pollution."

To aid her mission, Eilish and LA Metro made May 16 a "Fee Free Day." Special shuttles were offered from the C and K Lines, which took passengers from the Avocado Station to the Pirate Station and Kia Forum. According to KCAL News, the last shuttle bus left the concert 70 minutes after the show ended. The free shuttles were easy to identify, as they had Billie Eilish-coded messages sprawled across their digital headsigns. For instance, "What Was I Made For?" her ballad from the Barbie movie, "Lovely," the chart-topping collaboration with Khalid, and "Your Power" from her 2021 LP, Happier Than Ever

This is far from the first time Eilish has pushed her sustainability initiative to lower the entertainment industry's environmental footprint. The GRAMMY Award-winner is known for using renewable energy at her concerts, prioritizing plant-based food options, and not flying private.

"There's also plenty of room for change in my own industry, by changing the current systems (that make it almost impossible for artists not to create waste) from production of the product, touring, to photo and video shoots, artists have a huge platform and a lot of influences but its just as important for us and our teams to be reducing our own impact in every aspect of our careers where we can," she previously told TIME100 Climate. "The music industry must immediately adopt solutions like this and others that can rapidly reduce and ultimately eliminate our reliance on fossil fuels. When an industry as big, visible, and culturally important as music leads on climate action, others will follow," she added.

The intimate listening party follows her announcement of eco-friendly vinyls for Hit Me Hard And SoftThe vocalist has released eight vinyl variants (May 17), containing the same "track-listing across the board and all produced with the most sustainable practices available." The standard black option is made from 100% recycled black vinyl, while the remaining seven are created from ECO-MIX or BioVinyl and are colorful.

Earlier this year, Eilish subtly threw shade at Taylor Swift during an interview for dropping multiple versions of the same album. Many musicians today make different vinyl and packaging, which spikes sales.

"I find it really frustrating as somebody who really goes out of my way to be sustainable and do the best that I can and try to involve everybody in my team in being sustainable – and then it's some of the biggest artists in the world making fucking 40 different vinyl packages that have a different unique thing just to get you to keep buying more," she told Billboard, referring to Swift's business moves. "It's so wasteful, and it's irritating to me that we're still at a point where you care that much about your numbers, and you care about music about making money – and it's all your favorite artists doing this shit."

Swift is renowned for releasing various vinyls, but with different bonus tracks on each. For 1989, she dropped several colors on different days and only had them available for a limited time. Just hours after Eilish shared her ten-song project, Swift added fuel to the fire and enhanced their feud with three new digital editions of The Tortured Poets Department. Fans are eager to snag a copy, as they have "first draft phone memos" of her tracks "The Black Dog," "Who's Afraid Of Little Old Me," and "Cassandra."

The immersive experience was also offered to East Coast fans. The artist also teamed up with Live Nation and American Express to produce a fan-focused show at New York City's Barclays Center on May 15. Will you be streaming her latest project? If so, let us know your Fan Of View below.
