Blake Shelton and Taylor Sheridan join forces for 'The Road,' a new singing competition series premiering in 2025.
Get ready to add another singing competition to your weekly watch list, and you won't believe the household names behind it. Former The Voice coach and country icon Blake Shelton is joining forces with Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan to bring The Road, a groundbreaking singing series, to CBS in fall 2025.
Rising artists will embark on a cross-country road trip, facing off in various cities across America. Expect an exciting twist on the traditional format as contestants showcase their skills coast to coast!
Everything You Need To Know About – The Road
Shelton, known for his down-home charm and 23-season run on The Voice, is bringing his country music expertise to this new series with Sheridan, whose shows like obviously, Yellowstone and 1883 have put a cowboy spin on modern television. Together, they’re shaping The Road to reflect the realities of life on tour, with competitors performing as opening acts for a top-tier artist in venues across the U.S.
Instead of a studio stage, contestants will face a real audience in each city, aiming to win over fans to advance to the next stop. Simple as a Southern two-step: win over the crowd in each town, and you’ll earn a ticket to the next stop!
“No more shiny floors and studio audiences. This is where the rubber meets the road – literally," said Sheridan in a statement. "I'm a big fan of Taylor's incredible work, and I'm excited to team with him and my long-time collaborator, Lee, on The Road. I know a thing or two about singing competitions and what it's like to chase a music dream and live life on tour. I'm looking forward to discovering new talent and giving them this platform," added Shelton.
The show will feature an inside look at the challenges and camaraderie of a cross-country music tour. Picture up-and-coming artists packed on a tour bus, performing at iconic country venues, and living the life of a true road musician.
Shelton and Sheridan know there's nothing more powerful than a passionate fanbase, and they're putting that energy front and center with The Road. Fans are really the ones who make or break an artist, and this show is giving them a say in who makes it to the next tour stop.
"There is a revolution taking place in country music," Sheridan pointed out. "Building a platform with Blake for the next leaders of that revolution is an incredibly exciting venture. Get in the van, go to the next town and win the crowd. Do it enough, and you become the next leader. Simple as that."
CBS has become the home to many successful competition series. For instance, The Amazing Race, Big Brother, Survivor, The Summit, and many more. Therefore, viewers are more than ready to tune in, as it is destined to be the talk of the town. Plus, everything Sheridan touches turns to gold.
Blake Shelton Announces New Single
To top it off, Shelton announced that he’s releasing a new single, "Texas," this Friday, November 15, which he calls a “fresh and addictive” track paying homage to the Lone Star State.
"The thing that struck me about 'Texas' immediately was how different it sounded for me, and I'm always looking to push myself," he told Billboard, adding that the song has a classic country vibe with a modern twist.
