Carly Pearce is placing rumors to rest. The renowned country music star turned to X (formerly known as Twitter) to address and dismiss speculation of swirling rumors of a feud with Maren Morris

The rumor among fans arose after it was announced that Pearce would be collaborating with Morris's ex-husband, Ryan Hurd, on a cover of Tom Petty's "Breakdown" for an upcoming tribute album. Pearce, 33, clarified her stance in a direct response to a tweet by the co-founder of the chart data platform @USRadioUpdater, which suggested that the collaboration could be interpreted as "shade" towards Morris.

"First the shade after Maren dropped "The Tree" & Now this lmao," wrote Christian Larson. "Okay. Since I have seen this all over, I figured I would respond. Ryan has been a friend of mine for over 10 yrs. I was asked by my label to record this song with him for the Petty tribute and of course I said yes because he;s a great artist. STOP making something out of nothing!" Pearce responded.

After Larson apologized to the chart-topping artist, the country music community flocked to X to support and applaud Pearce for squashing the rumors.

"Thank you for clearing it up, and apologies on my end. I've been told a completely different story from trusted friends & other people and went with it. Apologies again to you & your fans. Will still be a supporter," wrote Larson. "Why do content providers, who say they love and support females, post stuff like this? Contributing to the narrative of girls bashing girls. Just Stop," added a devoted fan.

Morris filed for divorce from Hurd in October after five years of marriage. The singer-songwriter cited "irreconcilable differences" for the split. The pair, who share a four-year-old son, Hayes Andrew, finalized their divorce in January.

The alleged feud between the two musicians started when Pearce allegedly unfollowed Morris on Instagram after the release of "The Tree," a track from Morris' EP, The Bridge. The song discusses her decision to part ways with the country music industry and shift her music releases from Columbia Nashville to Columbia.

Her upcoming collaboration with Hurd is part of a highly anticipated album set to feature a lineup of country music artists, including Dierks Bentley, Luke Combs, and Dolly Parton. The album, announced in late February, is scheduled for release on May 31, promising to celebrate Tom Petty's enduring legacy through the lens of country music.
