New York City is gearing up for an unforgettable summer.

Mayor Zohran Mamdani appeared to confirm what Swifties and pop-culture fans have been whispering for weeks. The city is bracing for a big summer moment tied to Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

Speaking at a press conference (June 15) about FIFA World Cup 2026 security preparations, Mamdani listed a packed summer calendar.

"We are the biggest city in the country," he said. "We are used to big events, and we are incredibly excited for this one. We know it coincides with the Knicks’ [NBA] Finals run. We know it coincides with July 4, American 250, Taylor Swift’s wedding – all happening at the same time – and we are so excited to welcome the world here," Mamdani added.

The mayor is confident in the NYPD and state partners to keep the city safe.

"I am fully confident in the work of the NYPD, as well as our state partners, in delivering that safe experience," he claims.
His offhand reference set off fresh speculation that the couple’s long-rumored nuptials could indeed fall over the July Fourth weekend in New York.

According to Page Six, several insiders say Swift and Kelce, both 36, plan to host their wedding at Madison Square Garden over the July 3 weekend. Guests have already received invitations and were allegedly required to sign nondisclosure agreements before being given ceremony details. If the NDAs are broken, penalties would be enforced.

The guest list cited by TMZ includes high-profile names such as Zoë Kravitz, Suki Waterhouse, Karlie Kloss, Ed Sheeran, the Haim sisters, Gigi Hadid, and Selena Gomez.

Taylor and Travis got engaged in August 2025, after two years of dating. Since then, rumors about wedding timing and location have circulated intermittently.

When a reporter asked Mamdani whether or not he made the guest list for the star-studded affair, he replied flatly, "No and no."  Then, he quipped he’d listen to Swift’s song “Only the Young” at home and wished the couple a "lovely wedding."

Until the couple or their representatives confirm details, the reports remain unverified rumors. If the wedding does happen over the Fourth of July weekend, Madison Square Garden would be a major undertaking, requiring tight coordination among the venue, the NYPD, and state partners to manage crowds and keep everyone safe from Swift and Kelce’s massive, passionate fandom.
