Could Drake & Josh make a comeback? Drake Bell sure hopes so. The former Nickelodeon star recently shared his vision for reviving the beloved sitcom on the Beyond The Velvet Rope podcast (Dec. 10), and it's one that might have fans of the clasic series buzzy.

Bell, now 38, revealed that he's open to reuniting with his on-screen stepbrother and real-life former co-star Josh Peck, but with a twist. Drake & Josh, which aired from 2004 to 2007, quickly became a staple of early 2000s Nickelodeon.

The series followed the hilarious misadventures of two stepbrothers – played by Bell and Peck – navigating their blended family while dealing with their mischievous younger sister Megan, portrayed by Miranda Cosgrove. Instead of simply picking up where the show left off, Bell envisions a modern spin inspired by shows like Curb Your Enthusiasm.

"I have a really special place in my heart for Drake & Josh, and I would love to revisit the character," said Bell. "I'd love to revisit something with Josh, whether it's a reboot or…my dream is to do something kind of like Curb Your Enthusiasm, where we're playing ourselves but trying to navigate life today," he added.

The actor also expressed a desire to reunite with the entire Drake & Josh gang. The star-studded included Cosgrove, Jonathan Goldstein, Nancy Sullivan, Scott Halberstadt, and more.

"It'd be really cool to have Crazy Steve, Helen, Craig, Eric, Audrey, and Walter and bring the whole gang back, you know, Megan," he stressed. "I think it'd be really fun."

The show's popularity led to two TV movies such as – Drake & Josh Go Hollywood and Merry Christmas, Drake & JoshMaking a reboot wouldn't be out of the ordinary for the network, as they have done it in the past. Nickelodeon has seen success reviving other fan-favorite shows like Good Burger, Zoey 101, and Cosgrove's own iCarly

Millennials' love for nostalgia stems from a yearning for comfort and familiarity in an ever-changing world. Revisiting beloved movies and TV shows allows them to relive simpler times – reconnect with cherished memories, and share their childhood favorites with new generations. This trend is thriving in entertainment because it taps into powerful emotions while introducing fresh perspectives through modern reboots or sequels.

For fandoms, it creates a resurgence of excitement, strengthens community bonds, and offers new opportunities for fans to engage with their favorite stories in meaningful ways.

Bell's nostalgia for Drake & Josh is bittersweet, given the challenges he's faced as a former child star. In the recent docuseries Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV, Bell revealed he was sexually abused by a dialogue coach while working on Nickelodeon's The Amanda Show.

Despite the darker moments of his past, Bell holds a special place in his heart for Drake & Josh.  While there's no official word on a Drake & Josh reboot just yet, Bell's enthusiasm and unique pitch could be just the spark Nickelodeon needs to bring the show back.

Cosgrove isn't totally against the idea, either. She shared her perspective while walking the red carpet at the 2023 Kids' Choice Awards (March 4).

"Maybe," she told E! News. "It feels like everything is getting a reboot nowadays, so nothing's off the table."

Fans, stay tuned. After all, if there's a will, there's always a way!
