The 9-1-1 universe is expanding once again, this time heading to the heart of Tennessee with 9-1-1: Nashville. Set to debut this fall on ABC, the newest installment in the high-stakes franchise promises everything fans love: intense emergencies, character-driven drama, and larger-than-life disasters with a Southern twist.

Why Nashville?

According to executive producer Tim Minear, Nashville was chosen for its unique identity and strategic benefits. Unlike Lone Star’s Austin, which Minear describes as a blue city in a red state, Nashville offers a more quintessentially Southern experience with deep country music roots. Additionally, Tennessee’s production-friendly tax incentives made it a financially smart choice. Minear called the city “a fun place to set a piece of the franchise” and praised its strong personality and visual appeal.

Plot & Storyline

Like its predecessors, 9-1-1: Nashville will follow firefighters, paramedics, and first responders as they handle some of the most extreme emergencies imaginable.

A teaser already revealed one such disaster: a fiery tornado ripping through Music City. Expect more over-the-top scenarios, but with a Nashville twist – think country concerts gone wrong, chaotic tourist incidents, and significant weather events like tornadoes.

At the center of the drama is Captain Don Sharpe, a respected firehouse leader, former rodeo rider, and dedicated family man with secrets that may threaten both his professional and personal life. His family, including his wife and son, is tightly woven into the show’s emotional core, with his son working alongside him at the firehouse.

The Cast

Chris O'Donnell leads as Captain Don Sharpe, a firehouse leader and family man with a complicated past. Jessica Capshaw plays his wife Blythe, a sharp and ambitious woman in the horse racing business. Their son Ryan, played by Michael Provost, works alongside Don at the station. Hailey Kilgore joins as Taylor, a singing firefighter, while LeAnn Rimes appears in a mysterious role tied to the show’s musical themes. The cast also includes Juani Feliz as thrill-seeking Roxie, newcomer Hunter McVey as the rebellious Blue, and Kimberly Williams-Paisley in a role yet to be revealed.

Meet the Production Team

9-1-1: Nashville reunites several key figures from the original franchise, including Ryan Murphy, Tim Minear, and Brad Falchuk as executive producers.

Joining them is Rashad Raisani, former Lone Star showrunner, and Angela Bassett, who also serves as an executive producer in addition to starring in the flagship series. Their continued involvement ensures the Nashville spinoff will carry the same high-stakes intensity and emotional depth that fans have come to expect from the 9-1-1 universe.

With 9-1-1: Lone Star ending earlier this year and 9-1-1 itself entering its tenth season, 9-1-1: Nashville arrives at just the right moment to inject new life into the franchise. With fiery disasters, family drama, and a city full of rhythm and risk, 9-1-1: Nashville is poised to become the franchise’s most unique chapter yet.
