Fans Pay Tribute To 'Beverly Hills, 90210' Star Shannen Doherty

Shannen Doherty has fallen victim to breast cancer. The award-winning actress died over the weekend, July 13. She was 53. The star's publicist shared the devastating news on social media, sending shockwaves throughout Doherty's fandom. 

"It is with a heavy heart that I confirm the passing of actress Shannen Doherty. On Saturday, July 13, she lost her battle with cancer after many years of fighting the disease," shared Leslie Sloane. "The devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend was surrounded by her loved ones as well as her dog, Bowie. The family asks for their privacy at this time so they can grieve in peace," she added. 

A-listers and fans alike turned to social media to honor Doherty's legacy and to share touching tributes.

"She was courageous, passionate, determined, very loving, and generous. I will miss her and will always honor her deeply in my heart and in my memories," wrote Beverly Hills, 90210 co-star Jennie Garth. "She took me under her wing. She gave me the belief I had a voice and was worthy. She became fast best friends," explained Tori Spelling

The a beloved actress known for her diverse roles on small and big screens, left an indelible mark on the entertainment industry.  

Friends and family told PageSix that Doherty faced several personal challenges, but she continued to shine brightly and captivated audiences with her talent.

Doherty began her acting career at a young age, gaining recognition as a child actor with her role on the iconic TV series Little House on the  Prairie. Her performance in the cult classic film Heathers in 1988  showcased her versatility and established her as a rising star in  Hollywood. 

However, her role as Brenda Walsh on the hit series Beverly Hills,  90210 truly solidified her status as an icon. Portraying the complex and relatable character – Doherty captured viewers' hearts and became a symbol of the '90s teen drama genre. 

Doherty's talent and dedication to her craft have never wavered throughout her career. She continued to take on challenging roles, earning acclaim for her performances and influencing a generation of actors who followed in her footsteps. 

Despite her passing at the age of 53 after a courageous battle with breast cancer, Doherty's legacy lives on through her memorable work and the impact she had on audiences around the world.
