Less than two months after the tragic passing of actress Michelle Trachtenberg, the New York City Office of Chief Medical Examiner has confirmed her official cause of death.

On Wednesday (April 16), the office revealed that the 39-year-old actress died from complications of diabetes mellitus, ruling her death as natural, according to People.

Diabetes mellitus, as defined by the Mayo Clinic, is a group of diseases that affects how the body uses blood sugar (glucose). Glucose plays a critical role as the brain’s primary source of fuel and a key energy provider for cells throughout the body. When blood sugar levels become too high, something that can happen in unmanaged diabetes, it can lead to serious and sometimes life-threatening health problems.

According to reports from the New York Post, Trachtenberg was found unresponsive in her midtown Manhattan apartment on February 26. Emergency responders arrived at the scene after receiving a 911 call, but she was sadly pronounced dead.

The heartbreaking news has sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with fans and co-stars remembering Trachtenberg’s immense talent and unforgettable presence on screen.

Her Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star David Boreanaz shared on Instagram, "So very sad …horrible news. RIP and prayers to her and her family." Kim Cattrall, who starred alongside Trachtenberg in Ice Princess, posted a heartfelt message, "Rest in peace sweet Michelle 💔."

As tributes pour in from co-stars and fans alike, let’s take a moment to honor Trachtenberg by revisiting her most jaw-dropping Gossip Girl moments, because if anyone knew how to bring chaos in the best way possible, it was Georgina Sparks.

5. Georgina’s Wild Return in Season 2

Just when you thought she was gone for good, Georgina Sparks stormed back onto the Upper East Side in season 2, fully embracing her dark side. Who could forget when she revealed her new “good girl” persona, only to swiftly revert to her scheming ways? "You can tell Jesus that the bitch is back!" she famously quipped, one of Gossip Girl’s most legendary one-liners.

4. Blackmailing Serena in Season 1

Georgina wasn’t just a troublemaker, she was an expert manipulator. Back in season 1, she blackmailed Serena Van Der Woodsen with a scandalous video from Serena’s past. This wasn’t just any blackmail –  it was the catalyst for some of the show’s most dramatic moments. Serena’s panicked confessions and Georgina’s smug satisfaction cemented her status as the ultimate TV villain.

3. Becoming ‘Gossip Girl’ Herself

Who else but Georgina Sparks could hijack Gossip Girl and take over the empire? In season 5, she stunned everyone by revealing that she had control over the infamous blog. While it was short-lived, it proved that Georgina always had the upper hand and the receipts to prove it.

2. Crashing Dan and Serena’s Wedding

If you thought the Gossip Girl series finale would end without one last Georgina twist, think again. Just as Dan and Serena’s wedding was in full swing, Georgina arrived, delivering her signature smirk and making sure she was part of the Upper East Side’s final chapter. Her presence was chaotic, messy, and so on-brand.

1. Exposing Dan as Gossip Girl (Series Finale)

And finally, the moment that shook fans to their core – when Dan Humphrey was revealed as Gossip Girl. While the world gasped, Georgina just sipped her champagne, smirking like she had known all along. Because honestly? She probably did.
