Grand Theft Auto is a series that needs no introduction. Across its nearly 27-year history, the series has sold 410 million units, with the fifth entry being one of the most successful entertainment products of all time, selling 190 million units (Venture Beat). On December 4, 2023, Rockstar finally showed off the first trailer for the long-awaited Grand Theft Auto 6 with a slated release date of 2025, and it will no doubt break all kinds of records on release

The gap between GTA 5 and 6 will have been 12 years, and fans are speculating on what features they wish to be added to the game. Here are a few of the most requested additions fans want to see in the game.

Explorable interiors are by far the most requested feature by fans. Our Fan of View and a common complaint about the GTA series is that while the in-game map is vast, very few buildings can be entered and explored. Typically, the only buildings a player can enter are the various shops, safe houses, or interiors designed explicitly for specific missions. However, this leaves hundreds of buildings that cannot be interacted with other than their facade. Players are hoping that with the unbridled power of the current generation gaming hardware, they’ll be able to enter inside more buildings and structures to create a much more immersive game world.

Fans are also hoping for a diverse soundtrack. The GTA games are noteworthy for the radio stations that play when driving vehicles, playing high-profile hits from artists like Michael Jackson, 2Pac, Kendrick Lamar, and Stevie Wonder. These songs become iconic parts of each game's atmosphere, so fans hope Rockstar delivers an outstanding soundtrack for GTA 6. On many fans' wishlists are songs from Childish Gambino, Lana Del Ray, The Weeknd, and Taylor Swift

Many players are looking forward to a new and exciting story as well. The GTA games have been praised for their stories, with interesting characters, memorable missions, and themes that satirize aspects of American life. The last decade of political tensions, the ubiquity of social media, and technological advances make for ripe targets to lambast with Rockstar’s signature brand of humor. Also unique are the dual protagonists, Jason and Lucia. Lucia is the first playable female in the history of the series. It is said that the two will have a relationship styled after the famous bank robbers from the Great Depression, Bonnie and Clyde. GTA 5 experimented with having three protagonists, and hopefully, Rockstar is taking the lessons learned with that system to craft something even more engaging.

Grand Theft Auto VI is looking to be one of the most anticipated games ever, and expectations are sky-high. Until the game launches in 2025, fans must patiently speculate on how the game will turn out.
