The hottest names in music converged once again at the 68th Grammy awards over the weekend. In addition to the dazzling performances, like Sabrina Carpenter's aviation-themed "Manchild" performance, and headturning outfits, history was also being made. Bad Bunny's Album of the Year win for Debí Tirar Más Fotos, marked the first time a spanish-language album has ever taken home the lauded award, a moment that felt especially crucial given today's political climate. Politics played a key role during the night with several winners using their platform to speak out against ICE presence in local communities across the country as well as other attendees wearing "Ice Out" pins to show their solidarity.

The night also celebrated the newcomers. Lola Young, Addison Rae, and Olivia Dean all took home their first Grammy's with understandably emotional acceptance speeches. Let's take a look at some of the night's top moments.

Performances

As you'd probably expect, there was no shortage of exciting performances at this year's Grammy's. The always conceptual Lady Gaga performed a more rock-inspired arrangement of Abracadabra complete with a wild bird/birdcage outfit that is par for the course for Mother Monster. Gaga, could we please get a studio version of this arrangement?!

A supergroup featuring Post Malone, Slash, and Chad Smith paid tribute to the legendary Ozzy Osbourne with a surprisingly well done rendition of War Pigs.

The stage layout for Sabrina Carpenter's "Manchild" performance is honestly mesmerizing.

Justin Bieber took a stripped down approach for his "Yukon" performance with just a guitar, a looping pedal, and literally being stripped down to his underwear.

The newcomers made a splash this year. Lola Young's "Messy" made its rounds on social media last year and, surprising even her, won for Best Pop Solo Performance. This is even more exciting for the young artist considering she fainted during her last public performance, and has since been "working on" herself. Definitely a fitting return to the spotlight!

Social media influencer turned pop star Addison Rae did not take home the best new artist Grammy, she still stunned in a backstage performance of her song "Fame is a Gun."

The hardcore punkers in Turnstile are no stranger to gigs, having been around for over a decade now, but they've officially jumped out from the underground and into the mainstream with their first ever Grammy wins for their album "Never Enough." The band won for both "Best Rock Album" and "Best Metal Performance."

An emotional Olivia Dean looked visibly shaken as she took to the stage to accept her Grammy for Best New Artist. The artist used her platform to draw attention to the fact that she is the daughter of an immigrant and applauded the bravery of every immigrant seeking a new life for their families.

Politically Charged Speeches

As much as the evening was about celebrating art, it was also a moment to bring attention to social issues. Billie Eilish, Bad Bunny, Shaboozey, Olivia Dean, SZA, and Kehlani all used their platforms on stage to call out ICE's presence in local communities, which has been targeting immigrants and protestors alike.

Probably one of the most celebrated moments from the evening was Bad Bunny's Album of the Year win for “Debí Tirar Más Fotos.” Finishing an evening filled with politically charged speeches, with the first ever spanish-language ablum winning Album of the Year felt much needed. An entire crowd standing and cheering as Bad Bunny sat in disbelief was honestly a powerful sight.
