Fans are split...some call Hilary's timing "calculated," others praise her for protecting fellow moms and standing by her husband. Who do you side with?
Fans wanted Hilary Duff to "Come Clean," so she did.
The singer-songwriter gave a detailed response this week (Feb. 25) to Ashley Tisdale’s "mom group" essay on The Cut, telling Alex Cooper host of Call Her Daddy that she was "really sad" and "pretty taken aback" by the piece’s depiction of A-list mothers behaving like "mean girls."
"I felt really sad. I honestly felt really sad," Duff said on the podcast, pushing back on Tisdale’s framing and adding that the story "sucks on behalf of, like, six women," a reference to peers named in coverage such as Meghan Trainor and Mandy Moore. Duff insisted the portrayal wasn’t accurate and said she felt "used" by the narrative.
Duff also addressed the social-media flare-up involving her husband, Matthew Koma, who briefly spoofed Tisdale’s promo photo on his Instagram Stories before deleting it.
"Honestly, everything he does makes me laugh. So I was like, 'Oh, my God,'" she told the podcast. "But I also don’t censor him, and I don’t tell him what he can and can’t post. He is so, like, fierce for me, and I love him for that."
Critics have accused Duff of waiting for a big stage to rebut Tisdale, many called her Call Her Daddy appearance "calculated," arguing she picked a massive platform to maximize impact.
"She waited until she had a huge platform," one user wrote on social media. Others defended Duff’s restraint, saying she showed maturity by not immediately amplifying the controversy and by allowing time for things to settle.
Duff explained her silence in other recent interviews, telling the Los Angeles Times that when "crazy s—t happens, I go home and quiet the noise," pointing to family time with her children as her refuge. She
She’s also been promoting singles from her new album Luck… or Something and preparing for a world tour, which she said has kept her busy. The episode deepened the debate over who’s telling the full story – Tisdale or Duff and for now the fans are left to weigh in.
