Daredevil is back and he has some help from an old friend.
A new trailer for Daredevil: Born Again season 2 was released (Jan. 27), and our favorite street-level vigilante isn't working alone this time.
Jessica Jones, reprised by Krysten Ritter, has stepped into the fray to reunite with Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) on his continued quest to stop the corrupt Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio), who now serves as NYC's mayor. This will be the first time since we've seen Jessica Jones since the third season of her standalone series in 2019.
No doubt, fans are excited for more of her dry wit and take-no-for-an-answer attitude. Ritter spoke about her return to the character at a Disney Upfront presentation last year.
"It is so great to be back! Returning to Jessica after three seasons and The Defenders, and now joining the MCU! I am so excited to bring back this iconic character. And without giving too much away, there’s much in store for Jessica Jones. This is going to be an incredible season."
The trailer itself leaves much to the imagination, only giving us quick shots in succession without any plot details. Matt and Karen (Deborah Ann Woll) are seen dancing in an apartment with flashes of former arch-nemesis Bullseye (Wilson Bethel) drinking a milkshake at a diner, Wilson Fisk's AVTF (Anti-Vigilante Task Force) smiling amongst the community, and Fisk leading a toast at a restaurant.
It seems as though the villains have creeped into everyday life, and nobody is aware. Matt then collapses in the apartment, clearly inundated by an overwhelming sound only he is picking up on. Even if nobody else notices, Daredevil is aware of the corruption around him, and it's up to him to stop it. Then the action ensues.
The first season of Daredevil: Born Again was a great return to the character, but production was notably a little disjointed, with the writing getting an overhaul after production was halted during the 2023 Hollywood labor disputes. The finished product sometimes felt like two shows trying to work as one, which it technically was. Showrunner Dario Scardapane has said season two's production felt like "better-oiled machine." So far fans are noticing, commenting on how the second season is premiering only a year after the first, something that is becoming more and more uncommon nowadays. Let's hope that the series continues to do the character justice.
Daredevil: Born Again season 2 will release March 24th on Disney+.
