Jon Pardi: "The fans are everything. They're why we keep going. Why we try new things. Why we're still here."
Jon Pardi is country music's wild card and the kind of artist who can tear up the stage one minute and tug at your heartstrings the next. Pardi has spent the last decade blazing his own trail with a swagger that's equal parts cowboy and rockstar.
Now, with his bold new album Honkytonk Hollywood, Pardi is showcasing his evolution and offering fans a front-row seat to his most daring and dynamic era yet.
With his fifth studio album and a brand-new headlining tour, Pardi finds himself at a thrilling creative crossroads – inviting his devoted fans to hear the music and live it with him. For Pardi, it's never been just about writing hit songs, it's about staying true to his roots while continuing to push the genre's boundaries.
"All my albums have been rock and roll with a country flare – this one keeps on rockin'," Pardi previously explained in a press release. "It's also the most grown-up record I've ever made, all my soul, basically. Honkytonk Hollywood is for the Nashville that's in my blood, and it's also a nod to my California roots. And right now, more than ever, I hope it's a way to honor and lift up the people of my home state."
Pardi's roots are firmly planted in Dixon, California, a small town in Solano County surrounded by farmland and a close-knit community. These early experiences and values have profoundly influenced his music, shaping both his sound and his storytelling.
As California has faced the ongoing devastation of wildfires, Pardi has channeled the resilience and spirit of his home state into his latest album. Music has a special way of bringing people together during tough times, and for Pardi, this album is both a tribute to his roots and a reminder of how music can heal.
With Honkytonk Hollywood, Pardi took his music to the next level. He worked with producer Jay Joyce for the first time – ditching over-polished formulas for raw, in-your-face mixes. Over three weeks, Pardi and his touring band built each track from scratch.
During a press conference, Pardi shared, "I took everything I've learned over the past 10 years of making records and created one of my best. You just have to get in there, get your hands dirty, and get it done."
The collaboration with Joyce was a perfect mix of their styles. "We met in the middle – Jay tailored his approach, but it wasn't too much. It was good and tasteful. I pushed him, and he was open to my ideas. We worked really well together. It could've gone wrong, but it didn't. It couldn't have gone better."
This album marks a big step forward in Pardi's career, showcasing the power of fresh ideas and teamwork. Pardi's longtime fans, many of whom have been riding shotgun since Write You A Song and "Up All Night," also feel this evolution.
For fans of Pardi, the album promises a fresh, raw experience that's more up-close and personal than anything he's done before. Pardi describes the album's sound as gritty and in-your-face, with vocals that are right there in your ears, creating an immersive listening experience.
"This record has a different tone," he specifically told Fandom Daily. "It's not just polished – it's a new kind of energy that I think fans will really feel."
Pardi offers fans a more personal connection to his music, showcasing his growth and authenticity. From the gritty stomp of "Boots Off" to the nostalgia of "She Drives Away," the album tells the story of a man who's lived, learned, and loved under honky-tonk lights, with one boot in Nashville and the other in California.
"We've lived with the album since July of 2024. That's how long it's been done," he revealed. "So we are like, aged, we know all the songs. We love all the songs," Pardi added.
Now on the road for the Honky Tonk n' Hollywood Tour, fans are finally hearing these songs the way they were meant to be experienced – live, loud, and surrounded by thousands of other Pardi Party members.
And while production has ramped up, Pardi admits the true magic of his shows lies in the music itself.
"It's so funny how we as artists go about doing shows – what money we put into it now, production and everything," he said. "But in the long run, fans never ever say anything about all that. For the most part, the fans still only talk about the music. They talk about the energy of the show."
Though he name-checks artists like Cody Johnson for keeping things simple, Pardi went all-in on this tour's production, but the goal remains unchanged – give the fans a night they'll never forget.
"We are entertainers, baby," he said with a laugh. "But I'm really excited about the tour. New songs, picking what songs, and seeing what songs react. And now, with streaming, you can kind of tailor the set."
As Honkytonk Hollywood makes its mark across the country and energizes sold-out arenas, it's clear that Pardi has reached a new level in his artistry. Now, his passionate fandom has the chance to experience that growth firsthand, fully immersed in the sound and spirit of this defining chapter in his career.
