The official press release reads, "Barbie knows that seeing is believing, and that access to accomplished female role models can expand what girls imagine for themselves. Since Barbie debuted in 1959, the brand has spotlighted more than 100 women across industries and communities who have driven meaningful change. Through these stories, Barbie continues to increase representation and broaden what’s possible for the next generation."
Williams opened up about the honor and what this recognition means to her.
"I have always drawn inspiration from the powerful women in my life – from my mom, sisters, and daughters to the dolls in my toy box growing up," said Williams. "Now, I’m thrilled to be honored alongside this incredible group of female changemakers as part of the Barbie Dream Team. Just like so many women have empowered me to turn my fear into courage and doubt into confidence, I hope we can do the same by championing girls everywhere to pick up a racquet, become an entrepreneur, or do whatever ignites their passion and brings their dreams to life."
Unfortunately the Dream Team dolls are not available for purchase, but fans can still take advantage of Barbie Dream Days with deals on various dolls and accessories March 8-15. Additionally, Barbie will also be highlighting six female-founded beauty, fashion and beverage brands to further amplify female trailblazers. Look out for limited edition Barbie collaborations from FHII Heat, Stoney Clover Lane, GK, Unique Vintage, Besita Boots and Moment.
Lastly and perhaps the biggest component of Barbie's Dream Team launch is the announcement of the first ever Barbie Dream Fest, a 3-day convention celebrating all things Barbie happening March 27-29 2026.
The event will consist of screenings, panels, and other fun events that celebrate "the empowerment, passion, and creativity that is at the heart of Barbie and the fans who love her." This year's special guests a feature wide range of female icons including Serena Williams, Angel Reese, Marlee Matlin, as well as scientists, olympians, authors and more to convey Barbie's core message that young girls can be anything that they put their minds to.
Tickets to Barbie Dream Fest are available to purchase now.
