Nicki Minaj's Hidden Hills property was the scene of a swatting hoax on Wednesday (April 9) night, with law enforcement rushing to the scene after receiving a false report of a shooting.

According to TMZ, deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department arrived at the rapper's 12,000-square-foot mansion just after 7 p.m., following a call that described an assault involving a Black woman at the residence. Upon arrival, officers found no signs of a crime, and the house was empty. The rapper and her family were reportedly not home at the time.

The outlet confirmed that the call came in on a business line, which is typically harder to trace than a 911 call. The caller falsely claimed that someone had been shot at Minaj's property, and two individuals were still at the scene. This was the only report of an assault with a deadly weapon at the address. Law enforcement sources indicated that the lack of multiple calls reporting the same incident raised suspicions, prompting the department to classify it as a "swatting" attempt – a prank where a caller falsely reports a crime to provoke a massive police response.

Minaj purchased the property for $19.5 million in 2022. The residence is located in Hidden Hills, a gated community in the San Fernando Valley known for housing high-profile celebrities, including several members of the Kardashian family.

The L.A. County Sheriff's Department has yet to identify the caller from Wednesday's incident. However, they are continuing to investigate the matter. The trend of swatting calls has raised concerns about public safety, as these hoaxes can lead to dangerous consequences.

This isn't the first time Minaj has been targeted by swatting incidents. Last year, in both August and July 2023, the rapper's home was subjected to similar false reports. In those cases, authorities were told that someone had been shot at her residence, and in one instance, that Minaj's child was being abused. Both calls were determined to be hoaxes.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid making false emergency calls, as they divert critical resources away from real emergencies and put lives at risk.
