Selena Gomez is putting an end to the speculation – she’s not selling Rare Beauty.

In a new interview with Women’s Wear Daily published July 29, the singer, actress, and founder of the billion-dollar beauty brand directly addressed the swirling rumors that Rare Beauty might soon be up for sale.

“I think it's important for me not to focus on the logistics, if that makes sense. For me and my personal well-being,” Gomez told the outlet. “I put my heart into it. I work really hard, and I love our community, especially my fans. They have gotten me through all of the ups and all of the downs of life, and they are with me."

The rumors gained traction online in recent weeks, with fans speculating on social media that Gomez might be preparing to exit the brand. Theories ranged from her growing commitment to acting and producing to her recent engagement to Benny Blanco, with some users pointing to her newly launched Rare Beauty fragrance as a potential “final product” before a sale.

However, Gomez and her team are making it clear that’s not the case. Rare Beauty CEO Scott Friedman also dismissed the claims.

"We haven't made any decisions about any of that at all," he said, referring to the online speculation. "The rumors that have been out there have not been accurate. We're focused on doing what we do best, and we have no idea how that will evolve in the future years."

This isn’t the first time the Grammy-nominated artist has addressed rumors about her future with Rare Beauty. At the TIME100 Summit in April 2024, Gomez said plainly, “I don’t think I’m going anywhere. I’m enjoying this a little too much.

Gomez launched Rare Beauty in September 2020 with the goal of challenging unrealistic beauty standards and supporting mental health. The brand donates 1% of all sales to the Rare Impact Fund, which helps expand access to mental health services. In addition to product-based contributions, the fund raises money through philanthropic foundations, corporate partners, individuals, and the Rare Beauty community.

“This is my pride and joy,” Gomez said at the TIME summit. “I didn’t want to really enter the cosmetics world without a mission. It was actually a dream that kind of happened within this brand, and on top of it, we were able to make hopefully decent products."

The brand has since grown into one of the most successful celebrity-founded beauty lines in the industry, known not just for its high-quality products, but for its commitment to inclusivity and emotional well-being.

Despite online chatter, fans have been quick to defend Gomez’s dedication. “She built Rare Beauty from the ground up. There’s no way she’s selling it now,” one user wrote on social media. Others pointed out that Gomez remains actively involved in product development and branding.

“There’s still so much more room,” Gomez said. “There’s still so many more places we could go.”
