"It totally could've bombed and been so lame and cheesy, but I think it ended up being really cool and deep," Stephen Sanchez told Fandom Daily.
With the release of Angel Face (Club Deluxe) and his upcoming tour, Stephen Sanchez sat down with Fandom Daily to discuss his musical journey. When asked about the creation of Troubadour Sanchez and how it reflects his artistry, Sanchez explained, "I love 50s and 60s music. I always wanted to be back in the day playing that music because I love that sound so much."
But who is Stephen Sanchez, and why should you care about him? For readers unfamiliar with his work, Sanchez is a singer-songwriter who has captivated audiences by merging modern music with the nostalgic sounds of the 50s and 60s. His unique ability to evoke the timeless spirit of artists like Roy Orbison and Marty Robbins has earned him a massive and dedicated fanbase. His music transports listeners to a bygone era while maintaining a fresh, contemporary appeal.
After the rapid success of his debut album, Angel Face, Sanchez took a bold step by releasing a deluxe version. This project continues the narrative of "The Troubadour Sanchez" and deepens it with new layers of storytelling and sound.
A Deeper Look at Angel Face (Club Deluxe):
Angel Face (Club Deluxe) is not just an album – it's an immersive experience that invites listeners into a world where music transcends time. The album's deluxe version features five never-before-heard tracks, including the fan-favorite and 4x platinum smash "Until I Found You," featuring Em Beihold. These new additions are more than just bonus tracks – they are crucial pieces of the puzzle that complete the story Sanchez is telling.
The album weaves the tale of "The Troubadour Sanchez," a fictional musician who skyrocketed to fame in 1958 with "Until I Found You," became a cultural icon, and fell in love with Evangeline in 1964. This story, which could have easily come off as gimmicky, is instead deeply resonant, thanks to Sanchez's commitment to authenticity and his deep love for the music of that era.
Each track on Angel Face (Club Deluxe) is crafted to evoke a different facet of this narrative. The additional songs on the deluxe edition are meticulously arranged to enhance the emotional journey of "The Troubadour Sanchez." Whether it's the yearning balladry that echoes the loneliness of a man lost in fame, or the upbeat tunes that celebrate the highs of his career, the deluxe tracks add richness and depth to the album's overall concept.
One of the standout tracks on the deluxe edition is "">Evangeline’s Song," a hauntingly beautiful ballad that captures the essence of Sanchez and Evangeline's fictional love story.
When discussing the persona's success, Sanchez said, "We made it way cooler than it could have been. It totally could've bombed and been so lame and cheesy, but I think it ended up being really cool and deep. When it came to creating a character and everything, initially, we would sell it by making a whole backstory and pretending that I was like fake age, came from a town that I never lived in, and knew different people that didn't exist."
Sanchez’s ability to channel the spirit of the 50s and 60s has resonated with a broad audience, especially those who love nostalgic music from that era. His fandom has multiplied because he offers something that feels familiar and innovative. By leaning heavily on this nostalgic vibe, Sanchez has carved out a unique niche in today’s music landscape.
Why Angel Face (Club Deluxe) Matters:
The deluxe edition of Angel Face isn’t just an extension of the original album – it’s a crucial part of the artistic vision that Sanchez has been building. It’s an album that asks listeners not just to hear the music but to engage with the story, to imagine the life of "The Troubadour Sanchez" and feel the emotions that come with it. This music-making approach sets Sanchez apart in today’s industry, where quick singles often take precedence over cohesive, storytelling albums.
As far as the inspiration behind Sanchez himself is concerned, it's a timeless piece of heart that connects with today's audience while staying true to his creative process.
"As far as the inspiration goes, everything to do with the fifties and sixties was inspiring. I think a lot of the storytelling is like Marty Robbins. He told all these like gunslinger stories about people getting gunned down and longing for love. Roy Orbison also told many stories like that, too, from his own life, and that was inspiring," shares Stephen.
