Just when you thought Taylor Swift's album drop couldn't get any more thrilling, she surprises us Swifties with not one, but two treats in the dead of night. Swift released (April 19) the highly anticipated album The Tortured Poets Department at midnight, but at 2 a.m. Eastern, she hit us with The Tortured Poets Department: The Anthology. 

The unexpected surprise features a bonus set of 15 tracks. Swift's known for her late-night surprises – remember evermore and Midnights? It's like a musical rollercoaster ride, and Swift's at the helm, keeping us hooked with every unexpected twist.

“I’d written so much tortured poetry in the past 2 years and wanted to share it all with you, so here’s the second installment,” Swift wrote on Instagram. “And now the story isn’t mine anymore…it’s all yours.” 

Swifties around the world were buzzing with excitement and anticipation as the clock ticked towards 2:00 a.m., unsure of wha Swift had up her sleeve. While many speculated that Reputation (Taylor's Version) might be on the horizon, they were taken aback when Swift dropped not just one, but a second batch of songs. Social media erupted with videos from listening parties spanning the globe, and screenshots flooded timelines as fans eagerly snagged Tortured Poet merchandise. From the moment Swift hinted at her 11th studio album at the 2024 Grammys with a seemingly random peace sign, fans were on high alert – especially noticing the recurring appearance of the number two throughout her hints and promotions. Swift's Twitter countdown, coupled with her use of the peace sign emoji, served as confirmation of the double album theory, leaving Swifties in awe of her intricate Easter egg game.
