In a surprising turn of events, Taylor Swift has not agreed to be deposed in the ongoing legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni

This development comes after a series of legal maneuvers and public statements from both parties. According to Us Weekly, Baldoni's legal team filed documents on September 11, proposing a deposition between October 20 and 25, 2025, due to Swift's prior professional commitments, including the release of her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3.

Despite claims from Baldoni, Swift’s team says the pop superstar has not agreed to be deposed in the ongoing legal battle with him and Lively.

Swift’s longtime attorney, Douglas Baldridge, shot down those claims in a friday (sept. 12) filing, stating, “my client did not agree to a deposition, but if she is forced into a deposition, we advised…that her schedule would accommodate the week of october 20.”

Meanwhile, Lively’s lawyers fired back in a separate filing the same day, accusing Baldoni of trying to turn swift’s involvement into a “media spectacle,” further fueling the courtroom drama.

This does not come as a surprise, because initally Swift's representatives denied any involvement in the film It Ends With Us, stating that she had no material role and had only recently learned of the deposition request. They emphasized that Swift opposes involvement but may be available for deposition if legally compelled.

The lawsuit centers on allegations of sexual harassment and retaliation filed by Lively against Baldoni and Wayfarer Studios. Lively claims that Baldoni created a hostile work environment during the filming of It Ends With Us, including allegations of improvised kissing scenes and uninvited entries into her makeup trailer.

Baldoni denies these accusations and countersued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their public relations team for $400 million, alleging defamation and extortion. However, the court dismissed Baldoni's countersuit in June 2025, allowing Lively's case to proceed to trial in March 2026.

Swift's involvement in the case has ignited a flurry of speculation among fans, especially Swifties, who find her agreement to be deposed both surprising and unusual. Since the news broke, Swift has stayed largely hush-hush, leading many to believe she’s not truly involved in the conflict. Fans argue that if she were aware of any wrongdoing, she wouldn’t stay silent. After all, Swift is known for advocating for women’s rights and speaking out against injustice. Many see her quiet stance as a deliberate move to distance herself from Lively and the surrounding legal drama.

This perspective aligns with Swift's past support for Kesha during her legal battles, where she publicly advocated for Kesha's right to speak out against abuse.

For now, fans and the public alike await the next developments in this complex and unfolding story.
