Fans of HBO’s hit anthology series The White Lotus are buzzing with anticipation as rumors swirl about the show's next destination.

While HBO has yet to officially confirm the location for Season 4, sources tell Variety that the series is moving forward with filming in France, specifically in Paris and the French Riviera. This marks a notable shift from the previous seasons, which showcased luxurious settings like Hawaii, Sicily, and Thailand, and has fans eager to see how the show captures its signature blend of high drama and opulence in a new European backdrop.

According to reports, the production team has already been scouting some of Paris’s most iconic hotels, including the historic Le Lutetia on the Left Bank and the Ritz Paris. Built in 1910, Le Lutetia has hosted legendary figures from Charlie Chaplin to Ernest Hemingway, making it the perfect iconic setting for the series’ glamorous new season. Meanwhile, the Ritz, opened in 1898 and a favorite of Coco Chanel and Marcel Proust, could also serve as a backdrop for the drama.

Mike White, creator and showrunner of The White Lotus, teased fans with cryptic hints after the Season 3 finale, suggesting a different kind of scenery for Season 4. “For the fourth season, I want to get a little bit out of the crashing waves on rocks vernacular,” White said in an HBO clip. “But there’s always more room for more murders at the White Lotus hotels.” He hinted at locations along the French Riviera, mentioning Monaco and Nice as potential settings, which could bring a fresh, luxurious vibe to the story.

While many fans are thrilled about the prospect of Parisian fashion and Riviera glamour, some are feeling a twinge of disappointment. A segment of the fanbase has grown weary of France’s overexposure in pop culture, especially with the popularity of Emily in Paris, which many feel has painted France as a cliché of high fashion and romance. As one fan put it, “I love the series, but I was really hoping for a more exotic, less overdone location. France already feels a little too familiar with all these shows.”

Despite some mixed feelings, the overall excitement for Season 4 is palpable. Fans are already speculating about whether beloved characters will return. Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Tanya, remains a fan favorite and a likely returnee, along with Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda and Jon Gries’ Greg. The show’s knack for blending amusing, luxurious characters with dark, intense drama means anything can happen – new faces, surprising plot twists, and maybe even some more “White Lotus” chaos in the City of Light and along the Riviera. Fans are eager to see how White and his team will turn these iconic locations into a playground of drama, mystery, and maybe even a few surprises.
