Third-grade students at St. Mary's Episcopal School have taken it upon themselves to design a stunning wedding dress for pop superstar Taylor Swift, following her exciting engagement to Travis Kelce.

Under the guidance of their enthusiastic teacher, Kristen Hehn, these young artists are channeling their love for Swift into a vibrant learning experience that combines fashion design with a dash of celebrity culture.

The project emerged as a response to the students' excitement about Swift's upcoming wedding. When Swift turned to social media to share the news in August, Hehn said in a press release that the cafeteria erupted with "excited screams and cheers, girls jumping out of their seats."

"At an all-girls school, moments like this allow us to step into the girls' lives, tapping into what interests them,"Hehn shared.

The school recently launched a Makerspaces program, fostering creativity and hands-on learning among students. Inspired by various celebrity outfits, the third graders set to work, even imagining how Swift’s beloved cats might assist in their design process.

"We discussed what colors in other cultures are considered beauitful and ceremonial," The Lower School's STEM teacher, Carrie Ruhland, told People. "The girls voted on whether they weanted the dress to be white."

The initiative is a testament to the growing trend of educators integrating pop culture into their teaching methods, allowing students to connect with lessons in relatable ways. The children had creative freedom to draw on their imagination or on what they see online. For instance, a handful of students designed the dress with a sweetheart neckline modeled after Victoria Beckham's dress or the tulle skirt inspired by a Vera Wang wedding look.

Swift naturally required the perfect bridal accessories to complement her look. Therefore, the students crafted a stunning veil featuring intricate laser-cut cat designs made from wallpaper, a beautifully designed wedding band, playful cat ears, and elegant heels delicately embossed with charming cat motifs.

Ruhland expressed her pride in the students and her admiration for how seamlessly multiple classes collaborated to bring the final design to fruition.

"No one was worried about a different group picking up where they left off," she explained. "They embraced the opportunity to make a really great dress together, supporting and respecting on another's ideas."

She continued, "I hope they remember this for years to come and carry the skills they learned into new challenges with confidence."

As the anticipation for Swift and Kelce's wedding builds, this heartfelt project not only highlights the power of pop culture but also showcases how educators can harness that influence to inspire creativity and learning in the classroom. With their dazzling design, these young fans may just have the perfect gift for a superstar ready to say "I do."
