Keith Urban brought the heat to the 2024 CMT Music Awards last night (April 7), when he performed his new single  “Straight Line." The electrifying act served as a sneak peek to his highly anticipated album, which is slated to be released this fall.

The performance was particularly special, as it was history-breaking. It was Urban’s 20th time performing at the CMT Music Awards – the most times anyone has performed at the prestigious show ever. The Australian heartthrob sported a George Jones T-shirt as he pulled at his electric guitar and displayed his powerhouse pipes.

"In a straight line, baby | Hey, whatcha say we're never gonna look back now? | Can't you see the sun shinin'? | You and me drivin' out from under this dark cloud | I wanna know what they mean," he sings. "When they say life's a dream | Shouldn't we be dreamin' it too? | In a straight line, baby | Startin' now, takin' a straight line | Straight into forever with you | Yeah, with you."

Urban shredded on the guitar as always, bringing his signature high-energy, upbeat self to the stage. The fans were in love with the performance, especially as it seems this single seems like a throwback to Urban’s original sound.

While walking the red carpet, the hitmaker told The Tennessean that his main goal was to "bring out other elements of the song," such as percussion and backing vocals. His attention to detail resulted in a well-rounded performance that displayed his authenticity and superstar stage presence. Urban was joined on stage by his all-star band, as well as Nashville risers Maggie Baugh and Anna Vaus on background vocals.

"Straight Line" comes on the heels of "Messed Up As Me," which was released in February. Both songs will be featured on his LP, which has been in the works for quite some time.
