Ben Affleck is making waves in the headlines for both surprising and downright strange reasons. In his latest GQ cover story, the Oscar-winning actor opens up about everything from his heartfelt admiration for ex-wife Jennifer Garner to finally shedding light on that mysterious FBI visit, and of course, breaking his silence on his divorce from Jennifer Lopez.

Affleck, 52, didn’t hold back when talking about his solid partnership with Garner, 52, the mother of his three kids — Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 13. Despite their decade-long marriage ending in 2015, the exes continue to show the world how co-parenting is done right.

In his April 2025 GQ cover story, Affleck praised Garner for being a “wonderful” and supportive co-parent, emphasizing how well they work together when it comes to their children. If actions speak louder than words, their recent paintball outing for their son’s birthday seemed to prove just that. 

The duo looked comfortable and relaxed as they spent the day together, leading to inevitable speculation about a possible rekindling of their romance.

While a source claimed Affleck “would definitely be open to giving things another shot with Jen if the timing is ever right,” another insider was quick to throw cold water on the idea. “The feeling is not mutual,” they said, adding that Garner is happy with her longtime boyfriend, CaliGroup CEO John Miller.

The FBI really did pay Affleck a visit earlier this year, and no, it wasn’t because of some scandalous Hollywood crime. Affleck recalled coming home and being confused by a news story with anonymous sources claiming, “The FBI was at your house.”

"I’m like, ‘Well, this is strange,’" Affleck said, explaining that after calling law enforcement, he found out the agents weren’t even there for him.

Turns out, a federal official’s home nearby had been broken into, and the FBI was just canvassing the area.

“So the FBI went around and rang some bells,” Affleck said. “But because there are photographers sitting outside and these guys have their FBI jackets on, suddenly it’s: ‘The FBI has visited Ben Affleck’s house.’”

The most buzzed-about part of Affleck’s interview? His comments on his split from Lopez, 55. Despite the endless rumors, Affleck insists there was no dramatic falling out.

“The truth is much more quotidian than people would believe or would be interesting,” he said, adding, “There is no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue.”

Still, fans aren’t buying it. “So no reason? Yeah, right,” one TikTok user commented. Another added, “That poor man was in the presence of evil.”

As for that documentary, The Greatest Love Story Never Told, which gave fans a look into his relationship with J.Lo, Affleck revealed he chose to be involved.

“You’ve got to own what you knew going into any relationship,” he revealed. “It’s not like you can watch that documentary and go, ‘Oh, now I understand the issues that these two had.’”

Affleck’s latest project, The Accountant 2, is in the works, and he’s been busy behind the scenes with his production company, Artists Equity. But personally? He seems focused on co-parenting, dodging rumors, and keeping his name out of any more wild headlines.

Fan reactions to Affleck’s comments have been all over the place, with TikTok and X users weighing in with strong opinions. Some believe he’s downplaying drama to keep the peace, while others think the entire conversation is overblown.  

“He’s trying to avoid WWIII. Of course something happened,” one user speculated, while another dismissed the buzz entirely: “Thank GOD we have some clarity. 🙄 Who cares?” Some fans praised Affleck’s honesty, especially when he called out people for obsessing over image, with one saying, “I love how he mentions that some people are obsessed with curating an image and he’s just not that person 👏.”  

Others, however, weren’t so convinced, questioning Affleck’s role in his past relationships.

“There’s a reason you’re not happy in a relationship. If you can’t identify what that is, you’re doomed to repeat that relationship. Isn’t that common sense? 😬” another person pointed out. Of course, there was plenty of speculation about his ex’s dating history: “I mean, look at her reputation. She jumps from man to man. I’m sure he is not the least surprised.”
