Indiana Fever point guard and WNBA star Caitlin Clark recently announced that she will miss the rest of the 2025 season due to a lingering groin injury.

The 23-year-old, a two-time All-Star and 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, shared the update on Instagram, writing, “I had hoped to share a better update, but I will not be returning to play this season.”

Clark, who has become one of the league’s most electrifying players, described the experience as “incredibly frustrating” but thanked fans for their unwavering support.

“The way the fans continued to show up for me, and for the Fever, brought me so much joy and important perspective,” she wrote. “I am so proud of how this team has only gotten stronger through adversity this year.”

The injury occurred on July 15 during the final minute of a game against the Connecticut Sun, forcing Clark to miss the WNBA All-Star Game. According to the Fever, she later suffered a bone bruise during her recovery process.

Fever COO and GM Amber Cox emphasized that while Clark worked tirelessly to return, “there is not enough time left in our season for her to safely return, and her long-term health and well-being remains our top priority.” Cox added that the organization looks forward to having Clark back at full strength for the 2026 season.

This season, Clark appeared in 13 games, averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game. Her performance helped lead the Fever to a 2025 WNBA Commissioner's Cup title, further cementing her status as one of the league’s rising stars.

Fans immediately reacted to the news with shock and disappointment. Many had been hopeful that Clark would make a midseason comeback, and some expressed concern that her absence could impact not only the Fever’s playoff chances but also overall WNBA viewership. On social media, supporters voiced their frustration, emphasizing how central Clark has become to the excitement surrounding the league.

Despite the setback, Clark remains optimistic, encouraging fans to continue supporting the Fever as they head into the playoffs. Her resilience and dedication, both on and off the court, continue to inspire fans and teammates alike.
