Ed Sheeran Surprises Sheerios With Live Album

Hold on tight, Sheerios, because Ed Sheeran is giving the fans what they’ve been longing for—a live album!

The beloved singer-songwriter has announced an additional set of European shows for 2025, marking the final leg of his record-breaking Mathematics Tour. But that’s not the only thrilling news – Sheeran is also dropping a live album titled +-=÷× (Tour Collection: Live), which will be released on December 27.

If this doesn't qualify as holiday cheer, then what does? 

For years, fans have been flooding Sheeran with requests for a live collection, and he’s finally delivered. The album will be available digitally, for download, and in special physical formats like 2xCD and 2xCassette. Sheeran fans, known as Sheerios, will be excited to know that the limited-edition CDs ordered through his official wesbite , which comes with three exclusive postcards, while a set of collectible posters will be included with the 2xCD format at select retailers.

The beloved artist turned to social media (Oct. 25) to share the exciting news and to reveal more details about the highly anticipated album. 

 “I’ve had so many fans along the way ask me to make a live album, as I know my show is something that people like sometimes more than my recorded work," he wrote. " It never felt right up to now. Mathematics has been a culmination of everything since 2010, both the tour, and the collection of songs, so it felt right to do a Live collection of the songs from the tour. Up for preorder now, it sounds bloody wicked, I hope you like it x.”

Sheeran is known for his devotion to fans, and the +-=÷× (Tour Collection: Live) promises to take them on a nostalgic journey through his successful career. The album boasts a full setlist that spans from his iconic debut The A Team to newer hits like "Eyes Closed" and even "Bad Habits".

When Sheeran dropped the announcement, the fan response was explosive. X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram lit up with joyful messages as Sheerios expressed their excitement and anticipation for the live album. One fan gushed, “Thank you, Ed, for this! Your albums are amazing, but you live is next level. I have yet to find anything that comes close to the experience. Thank you for doing this for the fans!”

Another fan excitedly asked, “Is this really happening?! Ooh, looks like the digital version gets more songs!”Meanwhile, others simply shared their enthusiasm, with one writing, “Woooh! Been waiting for this!”

Instagram was also in a frenzy with fans commenting on Sheeran’s official post, which included behind-the-scenes pictures from the tour. One fan commented, “I fear I may never listen to another album ever again after Mathematics Live drops!”

On the Sheerios fan page, the excitement was next-level, with one user hilariously quipping, “Absolutely nothing against Lay It All On Me, but it getting a spot on the live album when Tides and I’m a Mess don’t is a little funny!”

Meanwhile, updates from the Mathematics Tour Updates X (formerly Twitter) page confirmed the tracklist and revealed that the live album won’t be available on vinyl. Fans expressed mixed feelings, with some accepting that there would be no vinyl release, while others focused on planning their preorders or eagerly awaiting the album’s launch.

The Mathematics Tour has been nothing short of monumental for Sheeran, with 134 shows under his belt and more planned in 2025, starting in Madrid, Spain on May 30. The singer will then hit cities in France, Italy, Germany, Norway, Switzerland, Belgium, Poland, Sweden, and Denmark. With nearly 200 million records sold globally and multiple tracks in Spotify’s Billions Club, Sheeran’s legacy as an era-defining artist remains unmatched.
