Fandom Daily: Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with us today! I’m super excited to dive into the new album. Sink Your Teeth is your fifth studio album, which is an incredible milestone. What were some of your thoughts and visions going into the creative process for this record?

Tyler Glenn: "I don’t think I can talk about the album without mentioning the pandemic, because that’s really where it started. It was this need to control something since I, like everyone, was feeling completely out of control. So, I decided to write a lot of music and collaborate with as many people as possible, even if it was just hopping on Zoom to create together. The first songs we wrote were anxiety-ridden and full of questions about the state of the world, but even after four years, those songs still speak to me. They feel real, not tied to the pandemic but to a universal feeling of uncertainty.

The album explores a duality I feel deeply — that mix of being well into my career yet still feeling a bit unsatisfied, and having similar emotions in relationships. When it all started to come together, I kept envisioning teeth or a wild animal — something that represented the balance between smoothness and rawness that Sink Your Teeth ended up capturing."

Fandom Daily: I love that you mentioned a blend of past and future in the record. So, with this fifth album, have you noticed a different reaction from fans? Has connecting with them felt more personal?

Tyler Glenn: "Yes and no. With our last album, which we released in July 2020, it was such a difficult time to promote anything. We had to rely on virtual interactions, so I felt really attached to that. This time around, being able to throw record release parties and feel the tangible excitement in a room is something else entirely. But the landscape has changed so much. Sometimes I think back to 2010 or 2014, and it’s hard not to reminisce about when things felt simpler and music could just take off.

These days, there’s so much noise –  it’s harder to cut through. For me, success now means making music I love and am proud of, and creating worlds for fans through our live shows and visuals with each album. That’s been my barometer, and I think our fans feel that passion too."

Fandom Daily: Absolutely, and you have "Bad Dreams" out as your current single. What’s the story behind that song, and how’s it doing on the charts?

Tyler Glenn: " 'Bad Dreams' has been a slow build, like a lot of our songs. Even "Animal" took 42 weeks to reach No. 1, and "Everybody Talks" was the same. Our songs take a bit to gain momentum, but once they do, they seem to stick around, which I’m grateful for. For me, it’s not so much about the charts anymore; it’s about the impact of the song itself.

'Bad Dreams' felt right as the single because I knew it had that earworm quality. We’ve put a lot of effort into giving glimpses of the whole record over time, and I think fans who have been following that journey will feel a deeper connection to it. It’s been such a satisfying process, just getting to write music that matters to me and seeing fans engage with it. Even if the numbers aren’t what they used to be, I’m just happy to still be doing what I love."
