Doja Cat just sent the internet into a frenzy with the reveal of her upcoming album Vie – and let’s just say, the visuals are serving fierce, bold, and nostalgic in a way only Doja Cat can pull off. But let’s talk about the elephant in the room: the Grace Jones influence.

From the moment Doja swapped her X (formerly Twitter) and Instagram profile pics to the high-fashion shots from the album shoot, fans immediately clocked the resemblance. The sharp silhouettes, the commanding presence, and that signature flat-top hairstyle? It's giving bold, fierce, nostalgic; its giving.....Grace Jones coded!

For those who need a quick fashion history lesson, Grace Beverly Jones is that girl. The Jamaican-born model, singer, actress, and all-around icon shattered beauty standards in the ’80s with her androgynous looks and bold presence. She graced the covers of Vogue and ELLE, walked the runways for Yves Saint Laurent and Kenzo, and stole scenes in movies like Boomerang and A View to a Kill. So, if Doja is tapping into that energy for Vie, we know we’re in for a moment.

Doja’s been keeping details under wraps, but on March 26, she made a dramatic digital shift – deleting most of her posts on X and leaving only two cryptic messages: “vvv” and “album.” And if you’re wondering where the name Vie comes from, it translates to “life” in French, which Doja previously teased in a since-deleted post on February 9.

Eagle-eyed fans also peeped a possible tracklist back in November 2024. While it hasn’t been confirmed, deleted X posts and expired Instagram Stories suggest that song titles might include “Crack” and “Acts of Service.”

As always, the internet had thoughts about Doja’s latest look. While some fans were eating it up, others were left scratching their heads.

Many were here for the high-fashion drama, flooding social media with praise. “THE QUEEN IS BACK. BOW DOWN,” one fan declared. Another added, “New playlist cover!” while someone else chimed in, “Okay slay, Doja.” One fan summed up the hype perfectly, saying, “Yass, Doja’s serving looks for Vie era!”

But, of course, not everyone was sold on the visuals. Some reactions were more lukewarm, with one fan bluntly stating, “I’m bored.” Another questioned the execution, writing, “Almost looks like AI. Doesn’t feel 100% real looking at it.”

Others admired Doja’s boldness and artistry, with one fan praising, “I admire her creativity every time again!” Another added, “Doja never plays it safe, and that’s why I love her.”

Then came the comparisons. “That first pic screams Cardi B,” one fan noted, while another quipped, “Grace Jones walked so Doja Cat could strut.” Some even speculated on the deeper meaning behind the aesthetic, with a fan writing, “She’s definitely making a statement, and I need to know what it is ASAP.”

Love it or hate it, Vie is about to be another wild Doja Cat era, and we’re buckled up for the ride. What do you think about the Vie visuals? Let us know your Fan Of View below.
