The announcement comes three months after their televised wedding.
ABC's The Golden Bachelor captivated hearts across America this past fall with their debut. After the season and a special televised wedding, couple Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist have announced (April 12) that they will be getting a divorce.
In a special Good Morning America interview, the couple revealed their decision to separate. “We’ve looked closely at our situation…and we’ve kind of come to the conclusion mutually that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage.”
The couple began their relationship on the debut of The Golden Bachelor, the first-of-its-kind dating series created and inspired by the popular ABC series The Bachelor. The series closely followed Turner, who sought to rekindle his love life with a selected court of outstanding seniors.
On the season finale of the series, Turner proposed to Nist, which broadcasted in November. Three short months later, the couple married in a televised ceremony in Southern California attended by several of the other women from that season.
According to Nielsen statistics, the episodes before the season finale received more viewers on average than any full season since 2021. ABC has announced plans for The Golden Bachelorette, a spinoff with a female lead.
