Whitney Leavitt announced she is leaving Hulu’s The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives in a dramatic moment during her final Broadway performance of Chicago, a move her representative later confirmed to Deadline.

The 32-year-old reality star remained in character as Roxie Hart while reading a newspaper headline announcing her departure, as captured in a video obtained by TMZ.

Onstage, she pointed to the paper and read, "Whitney Leavitt Announces She’s Leaving The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives," then turned to the audience and opened her arms as the crowd cheered.

Leavitt, who joined the show when it premiered in September 2024, has seen her public profile grow after a high-profile run on Dancing with the Stars last year. This exit is hardly surprising, as she had given subtle hints that she might step away from the popular reality show.

She told The Hollywood Reporter in March she was "figuring it out in real time." While remaining grounded, Leavitt explained that she wants to pursue other ventures to channel herself. However, she made it clear that she won’t forget where she came from.

"I wouldn’t be where I am without [The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives,]" she told the publication. "But it feels like it’s time to challenge myself in other ways and fulfill these dreams and passions that I’ve been trying to get even before the show."

Her exit comes as The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives resumes production on Season 5 after a pause linked to domestic-violence investigations involving co-star Taylor Frankie Paul and her ex, Dakota Mortensen.

People report that Paul will not take part in the initial Season 5 filming amid ongoing legal and custody disputes. The Salt Lake County District Attorney declined to file new domestic-violence charges against Paul on evidentiary grounds in April, though custody battles continue.

Fans largely framed Leavitt’s decision as strategic. On social media, supporters praised her for stepping away from the show’s turmoil and focusing on broader opportunities.

"She doesn’t need the drama," one fan wrote on Instagram, echoing a common sentiment that staying with the series could pose more risk than reward to her expanding career. Many commenters predicted Leavitt would pursue more acting work, return to Broadway, and secure brand partnerships.

As Leavitt pivots away from the reality series, attention will likely shift to the next steps in her career trajectory. Until then, Hulu has yet to reveal the release date for Season 5 of Morman Wives. How do you feel about this career change?
