This is exciting news for millenials of a certain age: our beloved Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell are teaming up once again for a brand new horror comedy titled, Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein

According to the offical logline, the movie will be based on "two delivery drivers whose routine drop-off takes a terrifying turn when they arrive at a creepy, out-of-place castle and accidentally awaken Frankenstein’s monster – turning an ordinary night into a fight for survival."

The news broke on the talk show Kenan co-hosts, Good Sports. Though, Kevin Hart serves as the usual co-host, Kel stepped in recently to help announce the project with his long time collaborator.

"Kel and I have always loved finding new ways to work together, and this project felt like the perfect mix of nostalgia, comedy, and something completely unexpected." said Kenan. "We’re excited to bring a fresh take on a classic monster story and have some fun doing it."

Kel chimed in, "Coming back together always feels natural, and this lets us tap into everything people love about our dynamic while trying something totally new. It’s funny, it’s scary, and it’s a great ride."

Kenan and Kel first gained recognition during the 90's on Nickelodeon's sketch comedy series, All ThatThe duo had a natural chemistry onscreen that fans could not ignore. This soon evolved into a spinoff, Kenan & Kelas well as them co-starring in a feature-length movie, Good Burger

Since their time at Nickelodeon together, they both branched off into vastly different careers. While Kenan has served as the longest-tenured cast member on Saturday Night Live since 2003, Kel has bounced around numerous roles, including some on modern Nickelodeon series. In 2023, Kenan and Kel reunited for Good Burger 2, reprising their iconic roles from their All That days.

Needless to say, fans are thrilled for this new movie as seen on this post by Deadline

While we were happy to see our childhood comedy icons reunite for Good Burger 2, its humor was a little sillier and, much like the first, leaned towards a younger audience. Fans are excited to see their matured humor.

Many even consider them to be a modern day Abbott and Costello, which is high comedic praise.

A few fans even brought up Kenan & Kel's made-for-TV movie, Two Heads Are Better Than None, which was also a horror comedy that premied on Nickelodeon in 2000. This new project will definitely be familiar territory for the two.

It will be nostaglic to see Kenan and Kel co-star alongside each other again, but we're hoping this movie will be an elevated version of the Kenan and Kel we know and love. Now that they're older, there's plenty of opportunities for more mature laughs to appeal to their primarily older fanbase. Also if they really lean into the horror elements, that would serve as a great juxtaposition to their often slapstick style of humor.

Kenan & Kel Meet Frankenstein will go into production this summer, with a to-be-determined release date.
