Ghosts, ghouls, and goblins are enough to spook anyone, but is the new Agatha All Along Marvel spinoff giving fans a fright – or something to celebrate?

Agatha All Along has all the makings of a must-watch for Marvel fans who live for a bit of horror. With deep dives into Marvel lore and a spooky vibe that hasn’t been seen in the MCU since Doctor Strange Multiverse or Werewolf by Night, this series is shaping up to be a perfect seasonal binge.

Marvel’s resident witch Agatha Harkness, played by the ever-talented Kathryn Hahn, takes center stage in this WandaVision spinoff. With strong character development, a talented cast, and horror elements that elevate it, fans are already comparing it to some of the MCU’s creepiest moments. But is it living up to the hype?

What Agatha All Along  Brings to the Table

As a spin-off of the fan-favorite WandaVision, Agatha All Along is set three years after Wanda’s enchantment of Westview. It explores Agatha’s journey as she reclaims her powers through a mystical path known as the Witches’ Road. Described as a blend of hero's journey and horror, Agatha’s quest is filled with supernatural lore – setting it apart from typical MCU fare.

Critics are already praising Hahn’s performance as the formidable yet charming witch, and the dark, magical elements make this show ideal for MCU enthusiasts. Joe Locke from Heartstopper adds a fresh face to the cast, playing a mysterious teenage superfan who becomes entangled in Agatha’s mission. This blend of witchcraft and MCU action has fans intrigued, though the reactions are mixed.

 What Are Fans Saying?

As always with the MCU, opinions are divided.

On Rotten Tomatoes, critics have given Agatha All Along a 79% Tomatometer score, while fans weigh in at 77%. Some reviewers were underwhelmed by the first couple of episodes, feeling that the show’s execution could use improvement. One top critic noted, “The show’s execution could be stronger, but there’s a lot of power – and even joy – in watching Agatha tear into the world, like the witch she is.”

On social media, the buzz is a little more forgiving. Fans on Instagram and X are living for the show’s witchy aesthetic and the return of  Hahn’s Agatha. One Instagram user gushed, "I love it! And another quoted, 'Just saw the two episodes. Freaking amazing! Can't wait to watch more!"

It seems like the show's mix of supernatural horror and Marvel magic is captivating audiences across platforms. Others have applauded the MCU for venturing deeper into horror territory, calling it the perfect fall watch. But not everyone’s sold. Some feel the series has potential but needs to pick up its pacing and deliver bigger twists down the line.

Despite a few criticisms, Agatha All Along is already shaping up to be one of the most talked-about MCU shows of the year. Whether fans are tuning in for the supernatural thrills or just more Agatha sass, it’s clear that the series is casting a spell on the Marvel fandom. Will it live up to its predecessor WandaVision? Only time will tell, but for now, Agatha All Along is a wickedly fun ride.
