These Valentine’s Day sitcom episodes serve up the perfect blend of romance and comedy!
Valentine’s Day is all about love, laughter, and, let’s be honest — sometimes, absolute chaos. And what better way to celebrate than by rewatching some of the most iconic Valentine’s Day TV episodes?
Whether you’re in the mood for grand romantic gestures, hilariously awkward dates, or sweet moments that will melt your heart, these sitcom episodes have it all. From Friends and The Office to Abbott Elementary and Bob’s Burgers, here are 10 of the best Valentine’s Day-themed episodes to binge this February 14th.
1. Parks and Recreation – “Galentine’s Day” (Season 2, Episode 16)
Before it became a real-life tradition, Parks and Rec introduced the world to Galentine’s Day, and we’re forever grateful. Leslie Knope, always the queen of over-the-top celebrations, hosts a brunch for her favorite women, complete with heartfelt speeches and personalized gifts. It’s a beautiful reminder that love isn’t just about romance — it’s also about celebrating friendship.
But of course, no Parks and Rec episode would be complete without a bit of chaos. Leslie takes it upon herself to reunite her mother with an old flame, which (unsurprisingly) doesn’t go as smoothly as she hoped. It’s heartfelt, hilarious, and a perfect episode to watch with your best friends.
2. Abbott Elementary – “Valentine’s Day” (Season 2, Episode 14)
Abbott Elementary’s first Valentine’s Day episode is full of awkward crushes, sweet surprises, and unspoken feelings. Janine, still fresh off her breakup, gets a little too much attention from a student with a crush. But the real shocker? She finds out Gregory might have feelings for her — something she hadn’t really considered until now.
Gregory, meanwhile, stresses over picking the right gift for Amber, unknowingly making things even more complicated between him and Janine. Elsewhere, Jacob faces pushback from a parent for teaching Black History Month, but Ava — who drops in to observe — ends up genuinely impressed. Melissa, thinking her boyfriend Gary forgot the holiday, is surprised when he pulls off a super sweet vending machine stunt just for her. With plenty of laughs, romantic tension, and classic Abbott heart, this episode is a Valentine’s treat.
3. Bob's Burgers – “Bob Actually” (Season 7, Episode 9)
Bob's Burgers brings a perfect mix of comedy and heart in this Valentine’s Day-themed episode. Bob, determined to show Linda how much he loves her, plans a surprise romantic dinner. His idea is to recreate their first date, but as expected, things go hilariously wrong. Meanwhile, the kids — Tina, Gene, and Louise — are each dealing with their own Valentine’s struggles, from Tina’s awkward crush to Gene’s quirky plans for the holiday. The episode shines with Bob’s earnest attempt to make Linda’s day special, despite everything falling apart. Whether it’s Bob trying to pull off a dinner with limited ingredients or the kids’ offbeat attempts at romance, Bob Actually perfectly captures the messy, imperfect nature of love. By the end of the episode, despite all the chaos, it’s clear that the Belcher family’s love for each other is what truly makes the day special. The episode is both sweet and funny, making it a must-watch for fans of Bob’s Burgers and anyone who loves a heartfelt Valentine’s celebration.
4. Friends – “The One with the Birthing Video” (Season 8, Episode 15)
Friends never disappoints when it comes to holiday-themed episodes, and this one is a classic mix of romance, comedy, and secondhand embarrassment. Monica wants to surprise Chandler with a romantic Valentine’s Day gift, but things go south when she accidentally plays a graphic birthing video instead of the sultry movie she had planned. Watching Chandler’s horrified reaction is pure comedy gold.
Meanwhile, Joey misinterprets a moment with Rachel and becomes convinced she has romantic feelings for him. In true Joey fashion, he decides to be a “good guy” and try to reciprocate, leading to one of the most awkward yet endearing moments between the two. With Ross and Rachel navigating their pregnancy and Joey trying (and failing) to handle emotions, this episode is the perfect mix of sweet and cringe-worthy — just like an authentic Valentine’s Day.
5. The Office – “Valentine’s Day” (Season 2, Episode 16)
Few shows capture the highs and lows of office romance like The Office, and this episode is a perfect example. At Dunder Mifflin, Phyllis is showered with flowers, teddy bears, and chocolates from her boyfriend Bob Vance (Vance Refrigeration), while poor Pam is left feeling completely forgotten by Roy. The contrast between their relationships is both hilarious and a little painful to watch.
Meanwhile, Michael heads to New York for a corporate meeting and, in true Michael Scott fashion, completely overshares about his relationship with Jan. His misguided attempt to impress his boss lands him in hot water and leaves Jan absolutely mortified. But the real highlight? Angela secretly gifting Dwight a custom bobblehead, marking one of the first real signs of their hidden romance.
6. New Girl – “Valentine’s Day” (Season 1, Episode 13)
Jess is newly single and decides that, for once in her life, she wants to have a casual, no-strings-attached one-night stand. With Schmidt as her hilariously overenthusiastic wingman, she embarks on a quest to find a Valentine’s fling. Of course, things go horribly (and hilariously) wrong when she realizes she’s completely unprepared for the hookup culture.
Meanwhile, Nick’s Valentine’s plans with his girlfriend Julia spiral into disaster, and Cece and Schmidt’s slow-burn chemistry starts to heat up. With classic New Girl awkwardness, lovable weirdness, and some genuine romance sprinkled in, this episode is a Valentine’s Day must-watch.
7. Brooklyn Nine-Nine – “The Party” (Season 1, Episode 16)
While not a traditional Valentine’s Day episode, “The Party” has plenty of romance, awkward social encounters, and hilarious moments. The precinct is invited to Captain Holt’s husband’s birthday party, and naturally, Jake and the squad struggle to fit into the sophisticated setting.
Jake, eager to impress Amy, tries (and fails) to act suave. Boyle, meanwhile, manages to charm Holt’s husband, Kevin, in the most unexpected way. The whole episode is filled with Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s signature humor and is an excellent example of how love can be found in the most unexpected places — even at a painful dinner party.
8. Arrested Development – “Marta Complex” (Season 1, Episode 12)
Michael realizes he has feelings for Marta, Gob’s girlfriend, leading to a series of miscommunications and absurd situations. Meanwhile, Lindsay misinterprets Tobias’s vague compliments, believing their marriage is on the mend — only to be met with classic Tobias obliviousness. It’s an episode full of Arrested Development’s signature dysfunction, making it the perfect anti-Valentine’s Day pick.
9. Community – “Communication Studies” (Season 1, Episode 16)
At Greendale, Valentine’s Day is anything but normal. Jeff scrambles to undo a drunk voicemail to Professor Slater, while Troy and Abed take on a hilarious social experiment to improve their “coolness.” The episode is full of Community’s signature wit, making it a great pick for fans of unconventional Valentine’s Day chaos.
10. How I Met Your Mother – “Desperation Day” (Season 6, Episode 16)
Barney Stinson, ever the anti-romantic, declares February 13th as “Desperation Day,” claiming that single women are at their most vulnerable. Meanwhile, Marshall and Lily struggle with being apart on Valentine’s Day, leading to a sweet reunion that reminds us why they’re the heart of the show.
Whether you’re celebrating love or just here for the laughs, these episodes are the perfect Valentine’s Day binge.
