As the Super Bowl approaches, weâre skipping the predictable snack-brand ads to spotlight the blockbuster movie trailers that pack the biggest punch and truly stop viewers in their tracks. đż
The Super Bowl is right around the corner, and we're here to talk about the most exciting part: the commercials! We're not talking about just any commercials, though. Year after year, it gets stale seeing what corny joke Doritos comes up with, or which celebrity randomly pops up in a Dunkin' ad. No, we're talking about the commercials that carry an extra punch, the ones that stop you in your tracks, trailers for this year's biggest blockbusters! That's right, it's time to put out the popcorn next to the guacamole.
We have a list of confirmed movie spots expected to air during the Super Bowl this Sunday.
Disney is going all out this year with two Pixar spots: Hoppers (March 6th), a brand-new animal-themed story from the famed animation studio, and, of course, the tried-and-true Toy Story 5 (June 19). On the Star Wars front, Disney will also show a spot for the upcoming buddy adventure, The Mandalorian and Grogu (May 22nd). At first glance, it's a bit surprising that Marvel won't be represented in Disney's Super Bowl push, given that they have two major tentpole movies releasing this year, Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 2026) and Avengers: Doomsday (Dec. 2026). Considering just a 30-second Super Bowl spot is a whopping $10 million nowadays, it's no surprise Disney is reserving their marketing money for some franchises that could use a lifeline. Pixar's only release of 2025, Elio, never quite found its audience at the box office, pulling in less than its $200 million budget, so it's no surprise Disney is putting in the effort to get butts in seats for this year's movies this time around. Then, any Star Wars fan would tell you excitement around the franchise is not what it used to be. The Mandalorian and Grogu will be the first theatrical Star Wars release since The Rise of Skywalker (2019), which left many fans unsatisfied, so it makes sense they're going the extra mile for that one, too. Trailers for Spider-Man and The Avengers are so highly anticipated by fans that the internet will break regardless of when they release.

Continuing the trend of Kid & Family-friendly movies is Universal with two confirmed spots for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (April 1st) and Minions 3 (July 1st). However, Universal is taking the opposite approach to Disney by putting the support against their biggest fandoms. The two most recent Despicable Me/Minions movies both made just under $1 billion at the box office, and the first Super Mario Bros. Movie did, in fact, crack the threshold, so these are almost guaranteed to print money.

To round out the night, Scream 7 (Feb. 27th) will show a spot before the night's festivities begin, Steven Spielberg's upcoming alien movie Disclosure Day (June 12th) will also be promoted, as well as the anticipated Michael (April 24th), the Michael Jackson biopic from Lionsgate. Lionsgate rarely advertises at the Super Bowl, the last time being in 2016 for Gods of Egypt, a movie that was panned by critics. It's no surprise they're going all out for a movie about one of the most famous musicians of our lifetime.
