Andy Cohen weighs in on the latest Bravo breakup, sharing insights on Craig Conover and Paige DeSorbo's split and how they're navigating the emotional fallout.
Andy Cohen has finally weighed in on the shocking breakup between Summer House star Paige DeSorbo and Southern Charm's Craig Conover, revealing that their flourishing careers played a big role in their decision to part ways after three years of dating.
During Monday's episode (Jan. 6) of his SiriusXM show, Radio Andy, Cohen explained that both DeSorbo and Conover were in the midst of exciting career moments that contributed to the strain on their relationship.
"They are both in the middle of an incredible amount of success," Cohen said, pointing out Conover's recent ventures. The Southern Charm star just opened a restaurant, By the Way, in Charleston, South Carolina, with co-star Austen Kroll.
On top of that, he runs his successful pillow business, Sewing Down South, which has physical stores in Nashville and Charleston. Meanwhile, DeSorbo, who's based in New York City, has been making waves of her own.
"She is just absolutely murdering it. Killing it," Cohen gushed. The 32-year-old star has been busy touring live for her podcast Giggly Squad over the last few months as well, adding even more hustle to her already packed schedule.
While the couple had been committed to making their long-distance relationship work, Cohen suggested that the growing demands of their careers were starting to take a toll. In fact, he noticed red flags when she didn't attend a party at Conover's New York home.
"I was at the Southern Charm premiere party, and she wasn't there — at his place in New York," Cohen recalled, hinting at the missed connections and events that became more frequent.
He continued, "There have been a few events that she hasn't [been to]. She is just so busy, and I just think the more and more that that starts to happen, you know, you worry that it causes a strain or whatever."
Cohen spoke on the behalf of all Bravoholics, confirming that this breakup sent shockwaves throughout the Bravo Universe.
"So more to come on that but I was very sad," he said. "Everyone loved them."
Fans were left in disbelief when DeSorbo announced (Dec.30) the split on her podcast with Hannah Berner. The reality star explained that they left off on positive terms and that they still respect one another.
"I love him. I think he loves me. I think we will remain friends, no one did anything. It wasn't a bad thing. I think we both were just being really mature and saying what we want and what we didn't want, and I think that's extremely powerful to be able to voice how you're feeling in real time and what you want for your future," stressed DeSorbo. "I have so much love and respect for Craig, I think he is one of the best people I've met in my entire life. I will remain the biggest fan for him and want the best for him, and he truly will get the best because he is the best. But, with that said, I think it is the right decision for both of us," she added.
Fans flocked to social media to weigh in on the breakup. While some were dumbfounded, others shared their fan of view.
"I'm heartbroken," said a passionate Bravoholic. "I feel like they will get back together," said another. "I would love to see the whole Bravo fandom take this view and support both of them," wrote a user on Instagram.
Conover has yet to speak out about the split. However, an insider recently told US Weekly that he's been staying positive as he navigates his new reality.
"Craig has been in good spirits since his split from Paige was announced," the source told the publication. "Has a lot of friends rallying around him. He spent the last few days in Aspen, [Colorado], trying to get his mind off of things."
The two first hit it off while filming season 1 of Winter House back in early 2021. Their relationship took off that summer, and fans have been along for the ride, watching their romance unfold over the last three years.
So, what's next for Conover and DeSorbo? According to an insider, the two "haven't completely cut off communication yet. They're handling the split really maturely."
