The countdown to the 2026 Met Gala is officially underway, and excitement is at an all-time high, particularly for the Beyhive. Early Wednesday morning (Dec. 10), Vogue announced that Beyoncé will co-chair this year’s glamorous event, joining a powerhouse lineup that includes Oscar-winning actress Nicole Kidman, tennis icon Venus Williams, and fashion legend Anna Wintour.

With this star-studded squad leading the way, attendees can expect an unforgettable night at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on May 4, 2026.

Vogue revealed that the theme for this year's event will be "Costume Art," a thought-provoking concept curated by Andrew Bolton. The exhibition will delve into the intricate interplay between fashion and the human body – showcasing a diverse range of body types. 

Attendees can expect thematic segments that explore various aspects of the human form. For instance, the naked body to the pregnant and aging body. This theme mirrors the evolving landscape of fashion and body positivity, ensuring a rich and meaningful dialogue throughout the event.

Beyoncé's return to the Met Gala is particularly shocking, as it marks her first appearance in a decade. The last time she graced the iconic steps of the Met was in 2016 for the "Manus x Machina" gala, where she stole the show in a stunning Givenchy Haute Couture ensemble. 

Since then, her absence has left a noticeable void for fans who have eagerly awaited her return. With her successful Cowboy Carter tour recently wrapped up, it seems the pop superstar is ready to refocus her energy on other artistic ventures.

In addition to the co-chairs, the host committee boasts a star-studded cast, including fashion designer Anthony Vaccarello and actress Zoë Kravitz.
