The decision to stop filming comes on the heels of a particularly tense Season 11 reunion, which left fans and insiders buzzing with anticipation—LEARN MORE!
Bravoholics are nervous about the future of Vanderpump Rules after the production of Season 12 was abruptly halted.
According to Page Six, a close source reported that the network stopped filming to give the cast a "break." Traditionally, the reality show starts filming in May and extends through June and July. Bravo and production executives are opting for a break this year, straying from the established schedule.
The hiatus is a strategic move to allow the cast members a breather following the intense drama that unfolded during the current season. Tom Sandoval's affair with Raquel Leviss and Ariana Madix occurred after Season 10 and consumed most of Season 11. With Scandoval dominating much of the narrative, producers believe giving the cast space is the best step forward.
"Everyone needs a moment to decompress after two very rough, intense seasons," shared the insider. "The cast is looking forward to a break from filming the show."
Following the affair in March 2023, Bravo made the difficult decision to kick off filming early. Unfortunately, the shift in production cut into the crew's scheduled time off. Producers believe that giving the cast space to navigate their lives will pave the way for fresh developments and gripping storylines upon their return.
"Producers are excited to catch up with everyone when cameras eventually go back up," the anonymous source told the outlet.
The franchise has yet to announce the exact date they would resume filming or when Season 12 will air. Bravoholics are thrilled that the star-studded cast is taking a much-needed break. Many view this hiatus as an opportunity to shift gears since many suffered from "Sandoval fatigue."
Fans speculate that Ariana Madix's commitment as the host of Love Island USA is a significant reason for the production delay. The reality star is slated to step into Sarah Hyland's shoes. This adds complexity to the situation since Madix is required to fly to Fiji for a few months to film. Madix, who holds a hefty role in the show, has channeled her energy into her sandwich shop with co-star Katie Maloney.
The two recently (April 30) appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen to announce the opening date of their long-discussed business venture. The shop will open its doors on May 22, 2024.
The decision to stop filming follows a particularly tense Season 11 reunion, which left both fans and insiders buzzing with anticipation. Cohen, the reunion's host, described the atmosphere as "incredibly intense and electric." While the hiatus might disappoint eager fans, it signals a potentially rejuvenated dynamic for the beloved show's future.
According to Deadline, the production of the flagship series, The Valley, remains unaffected and continues on its projected trajectory. As fans await the return of their favorite West Hollywood crew, the unexpected hiatus promises a revitalized and possibly even more captivating season.
