As Tom Girardi faces prison time for embezzling millions, Erika Jayne continues to battle lawsuits, leaving fans questioning if the fallout from their explosive divorce will ever end.
Erika Jayne isn’t out of the woods yet. The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, 53, opened up about the legal challenges she’s still facing four years after her split from attorney Tom Girardi.
The reality star appeared on the RHOBH After Show on Wednesday, December 17, to get candid with Bravoholics that are curious about her mindset heading into the highly anticipated week.
Girardi, 85, awaits sentencing on Friday, December 20, after being convicted of embezzling millions from his clients in August. Prosecutors are pushing for a 14-year prison sentence, calling his actions a “calculated and devastating betrayal” of vulnerable clients who had turned to him for help.
“It’ll be four years in two weeks since I left home and everything happened. In those four years, I’ve been able to accept a lot of things, heal through a lot of things, and I will continue to do that,” Jayne explained. “I’m not completely out of the woods. I’m still sued in a lot of places, but those things will resolve. It is what it is. I just try to maintain the healthiest attitude possible going forward,” she added.
Girardi’s legal downfall began in November 2020, just weeks after Jayne filed for divorce following 21 years of marriage. Allegations surfaced that Girardi had siphoned money from settlements meant for families of plane crash victims. Instead, Girardi used the money to fund their luxury lifestyle.
While Jayne has always denied any involvement in her estranged husband’s schemes – and was dismissed from the lawsuit in January 2022 – her connection to Girardi continues to attract scrutiny. Girardi, meanwhile, was disbarred in 2022 and charged with five counts of wire fraud, to which he pleaded not guilty.
“Tom Girardi built celebrity status and lured in victims by falsely portraying himself as a ‘Champion of Justice,’” U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada said after Girardi’s conviction in August. “In reality, he was stealing from the needy to support a lavish, Hollywood lifestyle.”
For Jayne, the fallout has been just as public as it’s been personal. Her role on RHOBH has placed her legal troubles under a microscope, with fans speculating that her ongoing appearances on the show are part of a larger strategy to control the narrative – and perhaps even help with mounting legal fees.
In fact, some fans believe her lawsuits could be a central storyline in the upcoming season of RHOBH. The theory? That the show will use her legal battles to create drama, keeping viewers glued to their screens as they watch her navigate the fallout.
As Girardi’s sentencing approaches, the saga of Erika Jayne and Tom Girardi continues to captivate audiences, both on-screen and off. Will this Friday bring closure – or just another twist in the story?
