Teresa Giudice and her husband, Luis Ruelas, have found themselves in yet another financial storm – making headlines for their mounting debts and loan issues. If you're keeping up with the Real Housewives of New Jersey, you know this isn't the first time Giudice's finances have been under the microscope. But now, the couple is facing a complex situation involving a significant loan and over $3 million in unpaid taxes.

In January 2021, Giudice and Ruelas' bought a $3.35 million mansion in Montville, New Jersey. Just yesterday, March 25, 2024, Ruelas took out a $1 million loan on the property under his LLC. Ruelas is now asking for more time to repay the loan and even requesting an additional $250,000.

Court documents obtained by The U.S. Sun show that Ruelas has filed a Mortgage Modification with New Jersey courts. The papers confirm that the $1 million loan, originally due for repayment on March 25, 2025, has been extended until March 25, 2026.

Ruelas has also asked the lender for an additional $250,000 loan, bringing the total to $1.25 million. As part of this new arrangement, Ruelas agreed to pay a loan fee of $5,000. The couple now faces a new reality – continuing to pay only interest on this loan until 2026.

In addition to their loan troubles, they are also dealing with a staggering amount of unpaid taxes. New Jersey courts recently confirmed that Giudice was issued a tax lien for $303,889.20 on March 20, 2025. Ruelas also has his own tax liens, including one for $163,523.94 in December 2024 and another for a jaw-dropping $2,569,842.06 on March 6, 2025. In total, the couple owes $3,037,255.20 in back taxes.

This financial chaos is making fans wonder –  will the reality star and Ruelas be able to climb out of this hole? The couple tied the knot in 2022. Giudice's previous legal troubles, including time spent behind bars for fraud, have made headlines before.

As expected, the news has sparked plenty of reactions from the Bravo universe. Bethenny Frankel didn't hold back from criticizing the couple for their ongoing financial issues. In a Instagram video (March 25), she slammed Giudice for once again finding herself in "another marriage with financial legal issues."

Frankel, who famously warned Giudice to get a prenup before her marriage, made it clear that she feels like she's watching a "bad movie" where you want to scream, "Don't open that door!" Her comments come in light of the $3 million in taxes the couple owes and Giudice's past legal battles with ex-husband Joe Giudice

Fans have had plenty to say about the Giudices' financial mess. Many fans are backing Frankel's take on social media, calling Ruelas "slimy" and a "conman." Some even praised Joe Gorga for staying clear of the drama.

The timing of all this is also raising eyebrows, especially since Gia Giudice, Giudice's oldest daughter, recently launched her podcast, where she promises to dish about her parents' divorce and legal issues. Fans are now speculating whether Gia is using the situation to her advantage or simply preparing for a potential family meltdown.

"My family has also been through a lot of hard times, a lot of dark times," said Gia on the debut episode, which came out on Monday, March 24. "But there's also been a lot of good times and a lot of good memories that have [come] from The Real Housewives of New Jersey."
